In this article, I will explain how I, MrHiglin, (technically) went from level PMC 1 to level 10 in just one week, and how you can do it too!
If you were to hover over my account name, you would see I joined PMC on March 6th, 2021. That was more than a month back from the day of writing (April 14th). Even though I uploaded my skin the first day I joined, I never actually began actively doing PMC until March 30th, meaning that I was "inactive" for 2 weeks. Then, I released a banner called "Flag of the Republic of Higlin" (hey, it actually looks good!), and that's when I really began getting into PMC, and I established a goal that would change my Minecrafting experience forever. (If you are still wondering why it says 1 week on the title, I was still level 1 6 days before this was written).
My goal was to somehow hit PMC level 10 in a year. Forgive me if you think I am wrong, but I sincerely believe that you only really get respect on the forums if you are Level 10 or higher. It really shows you are an active and witty community member. I set this as my goal, and I began working my way to level 10.
I began by releasing an article called, "How to (properly) Raid a Village!", which never really took off, but got me to around 60 XP or so. I then made a Minecraft skin called, "Beeve", a submission for the Bees Knees spring community event. I saw that people had actually given it diamonds, even if it was not very good skin. This convinced me that this was finally the open place I had needed for a long time, to express my fanatical obsession over Minecraft, with the community. So it was only then, 13 days before today, April 1, the day when Diamonds were replaced with honey, that I decided to officially gear up to reach level 10 as fast as I could.
That evening, I released an article called, "Testing Minecraft: Invis Pots and Shulkers", where I wrote what happened when you threw a splash potion of invisibility at a shulker. It was a huge failure, with just 39 views as of date. I was so ashamed of myself that I had failed in writing. I have always been told I am a brilliant and witty author, but the failure of this article crushed me, even if I was already half of the way to level 2. I took a one-week-long break. But then, I told myself to give PMC another chance. And so I did.
I released a blog called, "I Cracked the Secret to Making Minecraft Girl Skins", where I explained some differences between my skin and Nihachu's (Nihachu is a popular female German YouTuber on the Dream SMP.) The article did not take off, but it did give me enough XP to reach 200 total XP gained.
But then, I made the fateful decision that would eventually be the key to my success. I decided to make a data pack. I saw that the data packs of people like Awhikax had been received well. So, using an online website (https://crafting.thedestruc7i0n.ca/), I made a data pack called, "Minecraft, but you can craft Totems! by MrHiglin".
The success was stunning. I was officially level 2 that night. I decided to make another data pack using the same website, where I made a data pack called, "Minecraft, but you can craft the Elytra! by MrHiglin".
Overnight, I reached level 3. That same day, I hit level 4. Amazed, I began to understand how much data packs would aid me in my journey to becoming a journeyman (heh, heh, heh).
I decided to use humor to gain a following on PMC. With a couple of witty wall posts, using The Skin Shaper's guestbook to rickroll him, and blabber mouthing on the forums, I managed to get 3 subscribers on PMC. This was huge because I knew these people appreciated me making [their lives] better, and would [likely] give me diamonds on my submissions and emeralds on my forum posts.
After a small, 2 day period of not releasing submissions (during which I hit level 7), I created 3 player skins, one mob skin, and one blog. This got me to Level 9. But I was progressing slower than I had been a couple of days before, and to me, this was not enough. So, I decided to make another explosive data pack.
Today began with my profile saying, "MrHiglin ... Level 10, Journeyman Explorer."
And my goal has been reached.
So now to answer your question - How do I reach level 10?
Follow in my steps, use wit as a weapon, and make content that people will find interesting.
And with that, good luck gamers.
