Hello everyone! I'm back to share more of my knolage with you, this will be an add-on to my main post, specializing in item durability!
Remember to diamond if you think it deserves it!
Armor durability:
First I'm going to list differently damaging activities that DO damage your armor, then I'll list some that DON'T.
Things that CAN damage your armor:
- Explosions
- Getting hit by an arrow, fireball, or snowball (Fireball can be from ghast or blaze.)
- Touching some Lava, fire, or cacti
- Direct attacks from Mobs or other Players.
Things that CAN'T damage your armor:
- Ongoing fire damage
- Starvation
- Drowning
- Fall damage
- Poisoning (Cave spider or Potion of poison)
- Instance damage from potion of harming
- Falling into the void
Every time you are hit by something that CAN damage your armor, your armor loses 1 point of durability per piece of armor worn. Also, an item with the "Thorns" enchantment on it automatically loses 1 more point of durability, and if it reflects damage back onto the attack, it loses 2 more. (4 total)
These are the current durability values for armor:
Leather:
- Hat = 55
- Chest = 81
- Leggings = 75
- Boots = 65
Gold:
- Helmet = 77
- Chest = 113
- Legs = 105
- Boots = 91
Chain mail:
- Helmet = 165
- Chest = 241
- Legs = 225
- Boots = 195
Iron:
- Helmet = 165
- Chest = 241
- Legs = 225
- Boots = 195
Diamond:
- Helmet = 363
- Chest = 528
- Legs = 495
- Boots = 429
Now we continue on to tools, which may get a little complex. First I would like to point out some facts that many confuse:
- Gold tools are fast, but weak, and can only harvest blocks a wood tool could do.
- Axes, picks, and shovels can break (not harvest) any block and it will take only 1 durability, although it is much slower. Those tools loose 2 durability only when attacking mobs.
- Swords are pretty much the opposite, when attacking mobs the sword looses 1 durability, and when breaking blocks (even cobwebs) it loses 2 durability.
- Hoes only loose durability from tilling soil, they can break blocks and attack mobs as much as they want, but its just as good as a fist.
Current durability of all the tools:
Gold = 33
Wood = 60
Stone = 132
Iron = 251
Diamond = 1562
Other tools:
Flint and steel = 65
Shears = 239
- Fun fact: Shears are only damaged when shearing a sheep or breaking cobwebs, leaves, tall grass, tripwire, and vines.
Bows = 385
Fishing rod = 65
- Fun fact: When using the fishing rod, successfully catching a fish takes 1 durability, pulling the rod off of a block counts as 2, hitting a mob with a fishing rod takes 3 durability, and reeling in an empty rod doesn't take any durability.
I don't have a full mechanics of the "Unbreaking" enchantment, (yet, please comment if you know it) although I understand that the enchant simply decreases the chance of using durability when performing an action that used durability. The default chance of using durability would be 100%
Thank you all for reading! Remember to diamond if this helped!
