I recently discovered MultiMC and decided to make a video on how to download/install it for Mac OS and how to install Minecraft mods with it as well.
MultiMC is an open source Minecraft launcher. MultiMC allows you to have clearly separated multiple instances of Minecraft (each with their own mods, resourcepacks and saves).

How to Download and install MultiMC:
- Go to multimc.org/
- Scroll down download MultiMC for your operating system
- Drag MultiMC into your Applications folder
- Double-click MultiMC to open
How to install Minecraft mods in MultiMC:
- Download the mod(s) you want to install (CurseForge or PlanetMinecraft for example)
- Launchh MultiMC, create a new Minecraft instance
- In the MultiMC instance, install Forge open the Mods menu and add your mods to the list
- Click launch to launch your Minecraft mod MultiMC instance
