Ohaidere. :D

Today, I found something really cool. You're able to go into the Minecraft folders and edit the music disc songs so that they play your own songs. Awesome!

It's pretty easy. I'll be showing you as clearly as possible. Just open your .minecraft folder. If you have no idea how, just click that little icon at the far left at the bottom and then type in %appdata%.

Next, go to the Bin folder and use WinRar to open minecraft.jar. Remember that this file is the most important file in Minecraft file, so if you screw up, Minecraft may not work anymore. But we're only going to do one thing here.

Just go here and then download the thing that comes up. It should say "ck.class". Drag that into minecraft.jar. Don't forget to delete META-INF.

Now, exit minecraft.jar and go back to .minecraft. Go to the Resources folder and listen up.

If there is a change in any part of the sound files, Minecraft will rewrite the files back to their original state. So to prevent this, make a .txt folder and name it "DO_NOT_UPDATE". You don't have to write anything at all inside it.

The last thing to do is to back up your Resources folder in case you do something wrong. Just make a copy of the folder and store it somewhere. You should have something like this:

If you did all of this right, you're ready to start putting in your song files. I'll go through this step-by-step.

  1. Go to media.io and upload the MP3 file you want to use. Mark the box next to OGG and select the quality you want to use. Keep in mind that if your quality is really high, it could lag Minecraft when you play your audio.
  2. Click on Convert and download your new .ogg file.
  3. Return to Resources and go to "streaming".
  4. Inside the streaming folder, you will find all of the .ogg and .mus files for the music discs. Select the one you want to replace and delete it.
  5. Drag your .ogg file in and rename it to the one you deleted. For example, if the one you deleted was Cat, you would rename it to Cat.ogg.
  6. Copy and paste the .ogg file and rename the .ogg to .mus. You'll probably get a message saying that if you do this, it may be unusable, but just ignore that.

If you did all this right, when you go on Minecraft to play the disc, it should play whatever music you used. Hooray!

If something's not working, PM me or comment below. Thanks for reading. If you liked my guide, please favorite, like, and diamond it.

A lot of people were having trouble, so I posted this video tutorial. It's not my video, however.

Thanks! I've just followed your instructions to change the name of a music disc (using the lang files) and it worked perfectly! The part I used was the part that asked people to use DO_NOT_UPDATE.txt. I also have some tips for doing this in resource packs, and some other tips just in general.
-The newer Minecraft launchers do not use minecraft.jar. You should use the version jar files in the versions folder instead. They are the same.
-The mod specified (ck.class) has a broken download link. However, the mod is not necessary.
-You can also put DO_NOT_UPDATE.txt in the folder of your resource pack>assets>minecraft.
Hope this helped!
