How to Make a Texture Pack
~The Easy Way~
- First, You will need to download a free program called Gimp. I believe the current version is 2.6 if not just download the current version.
- Now that you have Gimp downloaded you will need to install another program most people already use ad have. This program is called WinRAR. What is WinRAR? WinRAR is an archiving program that extracts and unzips files. This means you can see more complicated files in files you wouldn't normally be able to open with a double click.
- Now that you have the required programs to make a texture pack we will get to the basics of making one.
- First, you will want to locate your .Minecraft folder. You can find this folder by going to the windows button (windows users) and by typing %appdata%. After typing this in you will get a Folder called "Roaming". Go into that folder and the first folder should be .Minecraft. For Mac Users, Go into Finder, then go into your PC profile, next go into Library, Applications Support, And there you will see the Minecraft folder.
- Next you will go into the .bin folder.
- Once you have accessed the .bin folder find the minecraft or minecraft.jar icon.
- This is where WinRAR is needed. Right click on minecraft/minecraft.jar and hover your mouse over Open With> then click on WinRAR (Open with WinRAR). Now Your inside your .minecraft folder. Your past the hardest part!
- Create a new folder on your desktop and name it the name you want your texture pack to be. Next Drag the following icons from the .minecraft folder to the new folder in which you have just created. You will Drag: Particles,Terrain,Items,GUI,Terrain.png, and lighting.
- After you have got all of those folders in your new folder you can now open these programs with Gimp. Simply Hover your cursor over the thing you want to edit and say Open with Gimp.
- Now you can edit and create an Awesome Texture Pack!
