Introduction
Minecraft is a succesful game, we all know about the millions of copies sold by Mojang. We also know about the money made by people. Since servers and websites like Planet Minecraft and Hypixel have opened up some people jumped to the opportunity to make some money from it. In this blog I will share with you my knowledge on this. I will try and keep as EULA friendly as I can but I, like many people, do not fully understand the EULA.

There are many ways to make money of Minecraft, or Minecraft related things. Even here on PMC you can make money.

  • Adlinks: Adlinks are, in my opinion the easiest way to make money, but only small money. After you gain level 20 on PMC you may use a adlink service and have ads feature on your links, gaining you small money. [Approx. $0.00030 a click]

  • Donations: Another way to make money off Minecraft and seen a lot with servers, is donations. If a person likes a server or likes a mod then there is, most of the time, a donation button where they can donate to that person or server. This has raised fierce controversy with the new EULA where as you cannot have a person who donated gain ranks and play with people who haven't paid for ranks.

  • Youtube or Twitch: Ads on Youtube or Twitch generate money that keeps many famous youtubers and twitch streamers alive, this is harder as you need to have a lot of people viewing your streams or videos to gain any amount of money.

  • Commissions or Pay to Build: Commissions or pay to build covers someone paying a individual or a build team to build, most of the time, a spawn. Other times it's cities or towns. There is also a growing market where people skilled in world painter sell their maps to server owners who need maps for their servers.

  • Pay to do plugins: This one is very common and most likely known among people reading this, paying to do plugins or permissions. Many server owners today have the money, the idea and the players but have no clue how to do plugins or permissions, or just don't have time to do them so they pay a person skilled in plugins or permissions to do this for them. This is most known in servers like Mineplex and Hypixel where they pay coders to do permissions and make custom plugins for their mini-games.

  • Pay to Play: This is allowed as of the new EULA. This incompasses anything about someone paying to play on your server or as some bigger servers have done they have it so that you pay to play on a V.I.P. server. How this works is, they have a store on their website or in game where you buy V.I.P., this V.I.P. allows you to gain access to a server dedicated to V.I.Ps.

How to make money of PMC:
The easiest way to make money of PMC is to post projects, mods or texture packs where as people click the download link and thus you gain money through adlinks. This being said you need at least 1,000+ downloads on mod, project or texture pack to get any decent money.

What are the adlink services:

The main adlink service that is most used with mods, texture packs and projects is adfly. It is user friendly and through it's popularity is well known and trust worthy. There are other adlink services but adfly is the most trusted and most widely used one.

How to make money of Youtube:
The way most youtubers make money off of youtube is through monethising their videos, or putting ads on them. Many people just skip through these ads but they actually generate money for the youtubers.

How to make money of Twitch:

Making money of Twitch is very similar to making money off of Youtube, it uses the same concept with placing ads on your streams but you need an average of 500 viewers on your streams while for youtube you could only have 20 views and still monethise.

Doing Commissions:
As far as I am aware you may not sell an item on PMC. Normally someone requests a map, or build and a build team leader contacts them or an individual contacts them and they discuss prices and the build/map on skype or other chat system. It is not allowed to post a shop on PMC that you have to pay for the work made.

Doing Plugins:
The same applies for doing plugins as applies for doing commisions. But beware when hiring someone to do plugins for you as they might be a troller or hacker and either give themselves OP or completely ruin your server. Always have a way of vetting [Checking out someone to see if they're legit] someone so that you do not get caught.

Pay to Play:
Pay to play means buying a ticket or pass to get into a server. This is commonly seen in bigger servers that don't wish to break the EULA. It is a very simple process.
1.First off a player buys the ticket or pass to the V.I.P server.

2.Then they are whitelisted on the V.I.P server.

3.They are then able to freely play the V.I.P server where they have what they get what was mentioned in the store. For example, fly, gamemode 1, OP armour or other things.

Making money off of Minecraft isn't as easy as I have wrote here, it takes a lot of dedication, headaches and smart planning to make any amount of money, or in some cases, sheer good luck.

Piece of notice, skins and blogs don't make money as far as I know.

Words to note:
*EULA
-The EULA is the end user license agreement, it is basically the agreement which states the rules for using Minecraft. Recent controvesy has come when Mojang announced that they were going to inforce them.
*Pay to play
-Pay to play is basically paying to play a server. Mojang has used the term ticket to symbolise what you pay for to play the server.
*Adlinks
-Adlinks are links which have ads on them. The most common is adfly where you have to wait five seconds where you see an ad and then you can skip the ad and continue onto your link.
*Commisions
-This is paying for someone to make a build, terrain and sometimes mod or plugin for you. Build teams dominate this service with smaller mod teams working too.
*Plugins
-Plugins are mods for a server. The most known is factions and second is essentials. Most plugins only work for a mod called Bukkit.

If you have read through the whole blog then well done! I hope that you have learned a thing or two about making money off of Minecraft! I wish you luck on your journey.

The only way you can legally make a profit off minecraft is ads on videos. Receiving donations and paying for acess so a server can stay alive is very different from making a profit off of minecraft.

If you don't understand the eula you can literally just read it on the minecraft website it is not super long or even difficult to understand.

https://account.mojang.com/documents/minecraft_eula

(the "using our game" part I think covers most of the issue with using minecraft to make money)

Yeah, my brother was showing me how it works. He has 400+ views on one of his videos and it made him $0.01 :) Imagine what someone with a million makes. ;)

Great tutorial! I just learned that you can actually use (Ad link removed) links on PMC lol I thought they completely removed it but I've never been Level 20 so I never actually knew.

There are a lot of misspelled words though, you should fix it if you have time :)
