Hello, in this blog tutorial I will be showing you how to make your own texture pack (or resource pack as they call it now) in 1.7.4. My tutorial for earlier versions is HERE: www.planetminecraft.com/blog/how-to-make-a-texturepack-any-version-pc-can-work-for-mac-etc/

1-Download Default Resourse Pack: www.mediafire.com/download/zdu1d05ihpur51x/Default+Resource+Pack.zip

2-After you're done with that, go to your desktop, right click, click on 'New' and click on folder. Then name it whatever you want your texture pack to be called. (For example EpicCraft, etc.,)

3-Open Default Resource Pack and drag "assets" & "pack.mcmeta" into your texture pack folder.

4-Open assets and design what ever you'd like! Items mean tools, armor, etc., blocks obviously mean grass block, cobblestone, stone, etc., You can design your texturepack in Gimp, Photoshop, or Paint.net! (links below) I use photoshop, it works best for me, but anything will work fine.

5-After you're done designing, you're going to press the start button on your keyboard or click it in the left corner of your screen. Then press %appdata%, then click on Roaming.

6-Click on .minecraft, then go to "resourcepacks' and drag in your texturepack folder! (It doesn't have to be added to archive, but it is required for something else)

7-Now, if you don't want to make your texture pack downloadable, you're done. But if you DO, you will have to add your texture pack to WinRAR or 7-zip. (links below) First, make sure your texturepack folder is still on your desktop, then left and right click on the texture pack folder, and press 'Add to Archive'.

8-When it says your texture pack name, then says .RAR, CHANGE IT TO .ZIP! <---- After thats done, press ok.

9-(If you don't want to make a media fire account or something, go to step 13)Open up your web browser and go to www.mediafire.com/ and make an account or sign in.

10- press 'Upload', the 'Upload from computer', and click on the big +, and find your texture pack file. When you found it, double click it so it will open, and begin the download.

11-When it is done, press Copy Link', or exit out of the big + square and click on it so you'll see the actual page of it. (It will say the name of the file, and will have a download button below it) copy & paste the link, but leave out www., because Planet Minecraft won't accept the URL with www. for some reason.

12-Go to www.planetminecraft.com/ and make an account or sign in, then click on Texture Packs, and click 'Post your own Texture Pack!'. Then write the title etc., and scroll down to Texture Pack file Mirror and paste the link. If you presses 'copy link', delete the www. part of the URL. You can go to to Images &Video and upload pictures on your texture pack, or you can create a youtube video about it. Then you're done! Press save and watch people download your texture pack!

13- This is for the people who do not want a media fire account, or whatever made you not want to do the steps 9-12. (I have to admit this is an easier way then step 9-12, but it will take longer because PlanetMinecraft has to upload your texture pack, but if people want to download your texture pack, it will automatically download, you won't have to go to media fire and then press download.) Go to www.planetminecraft.com/ and make an account or sign in, go to Texture Pakcs and click 'Post your own Texture Pack!" Add the title, and texture pack information, the click 'Upload File towards the top, and find your texture pack file and open it, and press save, not the one at the top, the one that appears when you press Upload File. It will take a while, depending on how much you did on your texture pack. This can take several minutes. Before you do that, you can enter a title, so if people download your texture pack, you can make it say, "Download My Texture Pack!' or whatever you want. You can go to Images &Video and upload pictures on your texture pack, or you can create a youtube video about it. After that is all done, press save towards the top and you're done!

*NOTE* If you have a website for your texture pack, post the website at Website/ Forum Post, (below Texture Pack File Mirror).

I would also reccomend FireAlpaca or Medibang Paint Pro (thats the one I am using but they are practically the same thing) They are both completely free and there are no viruses in case you are worrying. (Now it sounds like an ad oops. But it's what I've been using to make my texture pack an it works great)

You need to use paint.net,gimp or photoshop.
If you use the normal paint from windows it will make all items have a white backround behind it because it doesn't support transparency.
