Now, I was never a believer of "Herobrine."
Its just a joke to me. Someone was probably feelin'
a bit trolly and made it up, Right?
Well, Notch never came out and said that
Herobrine was real. Maybe because he doesn't even
know himself.
Someone at Mojang has to be the one behind it.
It is most likely not "Notch's dead brother" because how can
someone dead mess with code. Although i'm saying it wasn't his DEAD brother,
doesn't mean i was talking about his live brother.
Most likely what people may have meant when they said
dead brother, was that they meant currently dead.
The world was basically playing telephone with it until it

It is extremely possible that Notch had a brother that worked
at Mojang and helped with the code. Before he passed away, he left
a surprise so well scripted that Mojang has to remove it again after each update...

No one knows for sure if Notch has a dead brother.
It would make sense that he may, and is hiding it from millions
of players simply for his well being.
My last theory is a render glitch. Think about it, he is always seen from far away
and he basically has the steve skin. Why doesn't he copy your skin you might ask.
Simply because all skins are hosted on different servers than the acutual game,
thus they do not have connection to each other and the minecraft game
pictures you with a steve skin. Maybe he's just a reflection and the white eyes are cause by fog.
