Have you ever wondered if it was infinite? Like when there was no more Indev. When things came out of beta. What happens... further out?

Well, there is a place called the "Far Lands". Here is a picture: Image
It's means you've come 12,550,820 meters from the center of the Minecraft world to the edge of it. When you get there, your fps will significantly drop and the terrain will be messed up... HARD It is a quite mysterious place, where no lighting works and everything is... bust.

SO to answer the question, Minecraft IS NOT infinite. This is because computers can only generate so much terrain. Also, it would be really crazy to have something ACTUALLY infinite. Think about it! I'm actually not really sure what is infinite other than the universe. But the universe is supposedly expanding... Minecraft isn't. Hmm, maybe the real question is yet to be answered: "What is beyond the edge?"

So if you think Minecraft is infinite, then why doesn't it take up infinite Hard Drive Space?

Because it doesnt take up space until you load those chunks of the world. Thats why you get FPS lag when exploring, your loading the new chunks that havent ever been seen. When a world is created it only loads the first few chunks leaving you to explore the rest. thats why the longer and more you explore a world the more hard drive is takes up. Minecraft is infinite, but you must explore to take up hard drive space. Also the "Far Lands" have been removed. A long time ago, to be exactit was the first 1.8 update

Got anymore questions? ;-)

Alright, there are no more farlands, but Minecraft isn't infinite, there is an invisible wall as said in the first paragraph here.

That is for the Pocket and Xbox Edition xD. Get ur facts straight dude " The Overworld is limited to 862 by 862 blocks on the Xbox 360 Edition, and 256 by 256 blocks on the Pocket Edition. At the edge of the Overworld, there is an invisible wall". Told ya.

This was fixed later on, and it actually IS infinite, and I'm pretty sure Minecraft worlds DO expand, though I'm not too sure.

Hmm, interesting. I find it hard to believe that something could actually be infinite but... It could most likely be true!
