Some people might get curious on what it's like to own a server. The servers I own have a consistent 10 people on, and I like it. It's a lot of responsibilty. But this is what it's like...
People are always asking for something. Either to be promoted, or have their friend unbanned, maybe even ask for some free diamonds. Of course, I always say, "Go online and apply for staff." or maybe "Let's face it, your friend griefed, I can't pardon them." and other times, "Cheating is cheating! Get yo own diamonds!"
There are more things to do than please your server's members though. There's the plugins. Installing the right plugins, then figuring out how to use them. It took me a week to figure out PermissionsEx, and I'm still confused. But these plugins help SO much with creating your server. Like worldedit, its very easy to learn (for me) and I could build a pyramid in less than a minute.
But my MOST favorite part is busting the hackers or cheaters. I look into their inventory to find stacks of armor, or use a plugin to inspect an area and find that someone had destroyed another person's house. I don't want to sound mean by saying "BANNING IS FUN!!!", but I guess some people like to cheat.
Just the satisfaction of your work and how the server turns out is so nice. Or taking over a retiring staff member's position, becuase they chose you. There's so much work to do as a server owner, its like there can never be enough done to the server. It's like there's always more to improve on, forever.
Staff helps a lot as well, more than the plugins. It was hard choosing staff for this new server I'm making, but also the most important. You can make tons of new friends on servers. Its A LOT of work, but in the end its all worth the fun you give to your members... and the praise you get as an owner XD
