Imma start by saying I haven't been on here in tiime, a very long time. (This is not my account but it was given to me, back when I first came on here I didn't have an account) So I decided to take a look at the website, to you know, see how things are still going. The first thing that struck me is that the forums are nowhere near as active as they used to be, and I'm not trying to be one of them people jumping on the bandwagon that this website is dead but that was something that stood out to me. Back 2 or 4 years ago, the forums would've actually felt like a place to discuss things, however now it just feels as though it's a place to spam and advertise. Hubs are kind of dying, the only noticeable one I see that's still living is the anime hub,( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), and that's about it. Obviously it would've died down since you can't bring up the same topics, over and over, but that's just something I've noticed in this time. I don't think this website is dead, because it's not, just that's it's not as... vibrant as it used to be if you get what I mean.

Is Planet Minecraft dying?

The blogs is kinda weird, only a few minutes I saw a blog on the pop reel with only 1 diamonds. Again, it's difficult to come up with new topics, the websites been around for a long time. Maybe the popular reel system needs to be fixed.

Apart from that, there's not really much I can say. A lot of the older members have left, but there's still some faces around. The reason this website has lived for so long is because of its community, I don't think this website could survive on its own without the forums, because that's such a large majority of the players. But that's just my opinion- thanks for reading.

I don't think the site is dying. I think it's just declined from its former glory. Minecraft, a few years ago, blew up in popularity extremely fast. Pretty much everyone was playing it. Now, people have grown tired of it and moved on. I actually hope that this continues. When the vast majority of people move on and grow up, the community is left with fewer minors and children, which in turn makes for a more mature audience.
Then again, I too have just come back from a long absence (I once had an older account, which is now sadly lost). So I can't really say my words are true to the bone. But hey, the fewer 10-year-olds the better.

you didn't need a paragraph this long to explain that planetminecraft is in fact dying.

- Total amount of people registered : 2,095,544

- Total amount of people in chat : 3 at times, 20 maximum,

- 20 people in chat, 10 unactive.

Planet Minecraft has declined from what it used to be because a lot of contributors have left, but I wouldn't say it is "dying".
However, it really has declined in the way of good blogs (like this one). If you look at a lot of the most popular articles they were all published quite some time ago. The other parts of PMC I would say are still pretty strong, even if they aren't what they used to be. I used to often play a game on the iPod called Eden World Builder (basically a quirky MCPE), which used to be almost as popular as Pocket Edition and its community IS dead (just find its Wiki and you'll see how).

Over the summer I noticed a lot of great skinners left, especially a lot of male skinners who of course helped create content that a lot of guys were interested in, now it's hard to find male skins that actually cater to what guys want. I've seen a few nice teen skinners remain who's work I think is creative like Oblivion and Icarian (their quality also remains constantly well made) but I've also seen the emergence of a lot of very average skins being made, with not much thought or effort put into them annoyingly. As well as that though only Drzzter and taterman88 seem to have remained active, so not much male skins get made anymore, which of course means that a whole gender is missing out on content they like/can use really.

Of course that's just my opinion, but it's one of the main reasons I became increasingly inactive here on the site.

Blogs section barely gets any posts. Pretty much everything hits the pop reel immediately. The forums are almost exclusively "Please help me with X!" posts with actual discussions far and few in between apart from arguing about teen skins.

While I'm not one to be all "IT'S DYING!!!" it seems like the community has become worse. I feel like the mythical Forum Update could help greatly with that but who knows how long that'll take to get here. For now, though, we can only wait c:

I still get a majority of my server's players from PMC, so no complaints here. Otherwise I never really use hubs/forums at all so I wouldn't have noticed it in the first place.

Its seasonal/annual downtime at this point in the year. Its like when European players say my server is dead, but thats only because they're the very few people who can withstand the horrendous ping they get when connecting to my server at 3 in the morning (US Central Time).

What we're experiencing is somewhat similar.

Yeah... I agree. Planet MC is going through a blue period, if you know what I mean. It was actually booming in the summertime of 2016, and so many original things came out! But I think October is when it started to get bland. I posted two blogs for Halloween, but none of them got a lot of comments or newer fans that comment. For me, I don't give a spam (Oh gosh I made a Foodfight Pun... Why...?) about Diamonds, Popularity, or Levels. All I do is make content for the fans, not for greed or fame. I think the reason why people quit or put up lazy blogs is because they have to focus on what matters more: Education. Oh sure, it's boring, and we all want to be on PMC, but my primary goal is to skedaddle out of High School, Grab a Degree, and get a job I love. Sure I'll post blogs, but as we get older, we start to focus on our grades, and not our social life, because that's how you get into colleges. Just wait until June, because that's when school gives us our deserved breaks, and the real creativity and originality comes out. Don't worry about it dying, it just needs to get out of the depths of the dreaded blue period, that's all! x3
