"It's Not Fair!"
Have you every yelled, "It's not fair!" Or cried, "Why me?" Have you never questioned the fairness in this World? Admit it, we all have at least thought these questions at some point in our life but then, was it fair? Was there a good reason why it was you? The real question is: "What does "fair" really mean?
What Does "Fair" Mean Today?
Today people seem to think that fair means "equal" or "happy" or "nice" but none of these are actually correct. Most people will agree that "fair" doesn't mean "happy" or "nice" but many people think that it means "equal."
Fair Doesn't Mean "Equal"
Do you teach the same things to a 12th Grader as to a 2nd Grader?
No, of course not . . . But that's not fair!
Yes, it is actually because "fair" doesn't mean "equal"!
What Does Fair Mean?
Fair means what's right for each person! Fair doesn't mean equal, happy, nice, etc. It means right! These things are done because they are fair, they are right, they are what is right for you! They might not make you happy, but they are what is right for you, and they are fair!
Even if you don't understand right now, someday you may look back and realize why these things were done, to make you stronger, or braver, or better at whatever it was you were facing.
So next time you look up and the sky and yell, "Why me? This isn't fair!" Remember that maybe it is fair, maybe it's you because this is what you need.
