In this tutorial (click "Play" to start), I show you how to light up an area in different ways. This includes: nearly invisible lighting, chandeliers, subtle lighting, "fluorescent" style lighting, & more.

It doesn't cover extremely basic info, like putting torches on the ground or glowstone in the wall. Some information is kind of common knowledge, and some is not.

An end portal as an invisible light block? Pretty slick. However, transdimensional portals being used as light bulbs could prove difficult to change when burned out...

Personally one of my favorite topiary techniques for a home is to place glowstone into the ground then place bushes atop the glowstone. Makes for a simple but eye-appealing outdoors light source without the abusing the usage of torches. I use redstone torches for my designated enchantment rooms since they provide a really nice thematic lighting (makes the mood feel more arcane in the room). Lastly I have found that beacons make great brewing stand tables/anything related to potion making. Torches are nice, but I avoid using them whenever possible because they become so monotonous after a while.

Good work!

Just call your server's transdimensional expert, they'll be able to switch out that old, flickering portal to another dimension and replace it with a shiny new one.

I do the same thing with bushes. I actually mentioned that technique in the "subtle lighting" section of the video, though only briefly and I didn't demonstrate it (I probably should have but I try to keep my videos short). I agree about the Redstone Torches, I also tend to use redstone torches as the in-game equivalent of real-life candles (so, for rooms like enchantingrooms or areas I want to be dimly lit, churches, temples, etc). Never thought of using beacons for brewing stands though - I'll definitely have to try that out.

Thanks for the input! I always appreciate detailed responses, it helps me know what to include in other videos. I'll probably do a video on Landscaping Techniques sometime, and I'll make sure to include the light-up bushes in that one.

Glad to help with the feedback!

We did have a transdimensional lighting company. One of their servicemen got pulled into a malfunctioning wormhole and now the company won't return our calls

Thanks! I like using those for professional / commercial spaces, like grocery stores and offices, but they look great in homes too.
