Hey there everyone, Welcome to my new blogging series, Me Gusta how, I hope you enjoy this one :)

I run a 100 slots server and today I'm here to show you how to pick the best host for your server.

When picking a Minecraft server host, look for features, what are people saying, is customer support good?
Customer support is a huge part of running your server, this varies on the staff's experience and how helpful they are, I recommend choosing a host which others live support as it is quicker and easier for both the staff and customer.

Performance:
Performance differs in every server host, each server host uses different hardware, most server host's will use top end hardware. (core i7 @ 2.7GHZ, 32GB of ram, 4-5TB of space) most good hosts offer SSD's, but this will increase pricing of your server alot, is it worth risking the money for that extra performance? Yes, it is SSD's have major performance on both Loading maps and player load. Some hosts even offer RAM disk which is a alternative to SSD's, you can use ram as HDD. I recommend going for a server host which has a very good infrastructure, for example "I have 3 servers, if server 1 = performing under usual speed, transfer Service to other node." Thank youClanslots for this infrastructure example. (clanslots.com)

Up-time:
Up time is a huge part of Minecraft servers, almost every hosts offer 24/7 up time for their servers, if not - They are budget. When choosing a host, select one closest, most major hosts will offer France, Pennsylvania, Arizona, frankhurt - Germany. France is the best location for UK users, Pennsylvania and Arizona are all for US player bases, my geography isn't amazing so I can't state what States in america :P

Features:
Feature's are a fantastic thing each host offers, some hosts offer special features, some hosts offer features with special features within those features (you get the point) The main thing you should be looking for is.. Do they offer free MySQL? Do they offer dedicated IP's for a low, affordable price, do they performance increasing options?
MySQL should be the main part including dedicated IP's, Dedicated ip's can be used as a A record on websites for example, mc.fc-pvp.net:25570. MySQL is used to link plugin data with the server, most plugins such as Logblock, Hawkeye, Survival games need this. It is also optional to link Essentials and iConomy to MySQL, I recommend you do so so you have all your data in a safe place :)

Price:
Here is my recommended price for servers, £10 per 20 slot server, £20 per 40 slot server, etc (50 Pence a slot) anything above 70 pence is officially, overpriced. Hosts that make you pay for better quality support is stupid, you should get the best support with every server you offer, even the smallest of packages (£2 web hosting).

Control panel:
When picking a host, make sure it has a fast, powerful panel. Here is a list of major panels which I recommend using when purchasing a server:

McMyAdmin
TCadmin 2.0/1.0
MinecraftPanel (Custom for Fluctis hosting - I think)

Bad panel - GameCP, I do not recommend using any host who offers this as it is a terrible looking panel and extremely hard to navigate around.
Having a mod manager, a mod manager is a place where you can choose and install a variety of plugins such as World edit, Essentials, Factions.. etc.

Multicraft is also a very good panel, the standards of panel should be... MultiCraft, TCAdmin and any semi-featured custom panel. :)

Must have: Bukkit support, Tekkit support and so on. Hosts who charge extra for bukkit should not be used, it's no different from Vanilla except for the use of creating plugins and using external jar files.

I hope this Article helped you choose the right host, please comment below who you choose as the best host.

This is not an advertisement, just a opinion, I recommend Unqhosting for all hosting services..

I would say for anyone who is savvy with computers, you should use a VPS, no restrictions on what you can do, with my VPS I have a TeamSpeak 3 server, a Minecraft server a MySQL Database and a website all on 1 price.

Yes, but this is for new people who don't understand how to use Linux to setup a Minecraft server or how to setup MySQL, or even if they want a control panel to simplify things.
