Minceraft o The true story

Warning. You shouldno t read this if youo re easy to scare. I mean if you're REALLY easy to scare. REALLY, REALLY EASY to scare. I guess you can just read on.

If you are an experienced player, then you might know, that the title on the menu screen saying o Minecrafto can change to o Mincerafto , but the probability is only about 0,01%.

o Notch made it as a small secret, and enjoyed that he was the only one who knew of its existence. After stating a secret was in Minecraft undiscovered, the internet went wild, trying to find it. Soon after, Notch wrote an article called "a post-mortem of Minceraft".o

Thato s what Notch told to the public. Now Io m telling you what really happened. It is more than a secret. It is more than a o post-mortemo . It is more than a mystery.

As Minecraft hit 100.000 sells, a fan made a similar game like Minecraft dedicated to Notch. This fan posted this game on a forum. The thread title was o Minceraft o The next generationo , but it got deleted after one day or two. Nobody knows what stood in the comments by the people who played this game. It might be better that we never know. o Deleted because of copyright infringemento , stood there. The fan didno t want it to end like this, so he sent an E-Mail to Notch with a link to the downloadable file. After three days, Notch read the E-Mail.

o Thank you so much for Minecraft. Io ve made a game dedicated to you. Maybe you like it.o

After he read this mail, he posted a screenshot of this message on Twitter with the comment:

o Being a developer is great. Hopefully Io ll be able to beat this game xD (10:39pm)o

Normally, Notch wouldno t download a file by a totally unknown person, but he made an exception and clicked the link. The file was an exe-file, about 10 megabytes tall. So he clicked the download button.

While the download was processing, he thought about insecurities. It could be a virus, but it could be a nice little game though. It could be a troll, or a piece of amazing code stuck together with some more code. After the download has finished, he launched his antivirus program and made sure that it is running. Minceraft.exe, there it is. Just a double click and heo ll know o ¦ better.

He started the application. It went on fullscreen. There was a black screen for about three seconds and after that, a strange variation of the o Mojang Specificationso logo. The colors were different. It was all red. The text has been mirrored. He thought it would be a joke and laughed.

The game finished loading and he saw the menu screen. It was pretty accurate. It was almost 100% similar to the original menu screen of Minecraft. He recognized that the game was very laggy. There was a FPS counter on the top left corner. It showed 15 FPS, constantly. The splash was bugging around. It seemed a bit blurry, but he thought that it might be the tiredness. It was already late. He clicked the o Singleplayero button and saw the five different world saves. Empty, except for one. o World 4o . He ignored that and created a new world. It took some time to load, about minute. For a moment, he thought that it hung up and was close to terminate the game, but he didno t. The progress bar disappeared and the world has shown up.

This is where things got weird. The textures wereno t the original textures. The textures o ¦ were inverted. He was confused. The colors hurt his eyes.

Nevertheless, he started to break a block. A grass block. The particles were red o ¦ blood red as he would hurt the block, as it would be a living entity, as the game would be the entity. Blood patches ran across the screen. Notch was very worried. The grass block took very long to remove. He recognized that the game was preparing him for something, something weird. The last crackle on the block, the block broke. The game stood still. The current frame stood for two seconds. He heard a screaming noise. Sounded like a young child, a young female child. It stuttered. After those two seconds, the head of a creepy doll appeared on his screen. It looked like the head of a young girl. It had no hair, an eye was missing and red color was flowing out of it. He got scared, almost a jump scare. He said: o Thato s ito , and closed the game with ALT and F4. He tried to calm himself down, but some seconds later, a window appeared. White with black text.

o Do you really think you could terminate me? Do you think you could ever trust me again? Do you think you can ever play your game without thinking of me again?o

A pitched piano played in the background. Some notes, not more. An image of a heart appeared several seconds later below the text. On the heart was some more text.

o I love you.o

This had gone mental. It was like he wasno t playing the game anymore. The game was playing with him.

o Press SPACE to terminate.o

A tear ran out of his eye. He didno t know why. Maybe be was scared, but maybe he was surprised by the last sentence. He pressed space. The screen has gone black. A high pitched tone played for a second. Notch was unable to hear anything for 10 seconds. Then the game disappeared. The exe too. It was o ¦ gone. He was totally worried about his PC. His antivirus program didno t recognize a virus. He made a search over the whole system, but he couldno t find the Minceraft.exe. It was totally gone. He went immediately on Twitter and removed his recent tweet, so nobody needs to ask what happened. He quickly went into his bed hoping to forget anything he saw this evening.

He didno t sleep very well. Those three sentences which appeared when he tried to close the game were always in his dreams. As he checked his inbox in the morning, he got a new message by the guy who made the Minceraft.exe.

o Just insert the name of my game into your game and your nightmares will be gone.o

He quickly started an e-mail conversation with the anonymous person.

o Why did you do this?o

o Because I love you.o

He busts out crying.

o WHO ARE YOU?o

o I am god.o

He tried to send one more message to the strange person, but he didno t get another answer by him. A o mail not sento message flew into his inbox.

o We were unable to send the message to the desired receiver because the e-mail account is not existing.o

Notch sat back for a minute and added some more pieces of code. Minceraft. This name hurt his eyes. After that, he immediately released a new version. 1.2.3_02, November 25, 2010. Released with a secret. Minceraft. He slept very well after that.
