Introductions

Hey PMC I joined about 2 days ago and this is my First Blog! Let me start off by introducing myself I am pwnreaper52! My name spans many servers however you will mostly find me on Insomnia Server MC, Pwegoserver and occasionally Crysis Server. In my days of minecraft I have noticed something that a lot of others have too and being a staff on Insomnia server this issue has become a bigger problem in my eyes. There is 1 problem I am talking about, Building for Rank. Following this fashion will enhance your minecraft playing and make your builds seem that much more wonderful and your time that much more fun. It is a simple saying that applies to everything in life that I learned from an old friend of mine. That saying is o It is the subtle small things in life that make the greatest and most grand differenceso .

Building for Rank

To begin this rant leto s take a trip back into my life. When I got minecraft for the first time I had torrented it. Yes Yes I know I am a thief however my parents did not have a credit card at the time (We believed in the old fashioned stuffing your money in a Mattress way) therefore I could not purchase anything over the internet. I torrented it on March 25th 2011 I remember the date because it was my Older Sistero s birthday and I had just finished calling her. I sat down and went to the website my friend gave me and torrented it. Immediately after torrented it I logged on to my friends home minecraft server and was immediately given OP. We built while spawning items all day and I fell in love with the game. When I wasno t on his server I was on my own and within 3 days I had made a Craftbukkit server of my own and installed World edit and a plugin called Waypoints. I played and played until July 27th 2011 which was the departure date of my family trip to Jamaica (my homeland). A week prior to the trip my parents decided it might be useful to invest in a credit card and about the second week into my trip we received an email saying everything had gone through and our credit card we in the mail. Immediately after hearing this I asked my father if I could purchase a game once we got back and he said o sure sono . I was super excited!

I had actually planned to purchase Fifa 11 up until something else happened. After hearing this I went back to the room I was staying in in my grandparentso house. I booted up there desktop (I know old fashioned eh?) and was browsing through YouTube within hours not minutes hours that computer was extremely slow! While Browsing I came upon a video called o 1001 Things Episode 1 o . It was a survival series by a youtuber known as Pwego on his channel. I scrolled through and realised he had a server and watched all of his videos. The builds were amazing I mean it surprised me that such beautiful things could be built in minecraft. I learned from watching his videos and replicated some builds just form pausing the videos at the right time and scoping out the picture! (I know crazy right) I was obsessed. I stalked his website and read server news even though I couldno t log on and I just obsessed over him.

I came back to Canada off my vacation on August 26th. After reaching home from the airport I borrowed my dado s credit card and bought the game. Immediately after buying the game can you guess what I did? I went on pwegoserver! I already knew how the ranking system worked and basically everything from watching all of his videos. I didno t care about my rank or about how people looked at me I just wanted to build surrounded by the greatest minecraft players of our time! I applied for the rank of Magbuilder to gain build permission in the Main world and Went Straight to noobuild. (The guest build area) I built until one day I logged on to find my application had gone through and I had build permissions! I went to an area far away from spawn so I could build without being griefed or haggled and didno t speak in chat for at least a month straight. Project after project I built and with each block I placed my building skills increased. One day a player by the name of Coolmankimo came along and promoted me to the next rank Magi and I was so excited! I built and built for many more months gaining respect and getting ranked up when the time was right until I found myself far up the ranking ladder. Along my journey I had met many people even the great Circleight! I had many friends of which include Alecrick16, Bladerunner77777, Greytopher, Phillies, Goodman, Moviemaker2 and many many more!

You see I had never known of such a thing as building for power or for rank. To me building was strictly for fun it was a game. One day my friend Moviemaker2 approached me in a Skype call and said to me that he wants to buy a server. We talked about it and within a week he had made it! He and I along with goodman415 and Greytopher Constructed spawn and other builds and eventually we released the server to the public. I was given the rank of [Staff] while Goodman and grey got admin and I was perfectly fine with that as I had no interest in rank. We watched as the server became more and more popular and builders galore logged on. Being staff I am entitled to give out promotions and rate peopleo s builds. I was happy with that responsibility as I loved seeing others builds. However as the days dragged on and I rated more and more builds I realised. People these days build for rank and the result of that is the level of the builds is EXTREMELY low. They built a 10 minute Stone brick box with 2 windows and ask to be promoted. I shoo them off and tell them to try again and guess what? They add another window and call me again! The whole point of this blog leads up to this: See it from my point of view Why should I promote you for a build in which you put in no effort and looks like dirt? Thato s what I think to myself every time I see one of those builds. Now dono t get me wrong Io m not saying that all of the Minecraft players nowadays are crap. There is the odd player that is decent and builds for fun but the standards are getting ridiculous. They ask themselves why cano t I get promo and they wonder why areno t my builds good enough? The answer is you build for rank. Therefore you rush, build for fun and you will naturally spend more time on a build and the overall quality will improve dramatically. Anyways that was My 69 Cents (See what I did there? And you thought there would be no immaturity in this blog)

Very interesting. Building for a rank is kinda stupid.
