Hey Guys, I will Show you how to make a color motd!:
Open Minecraft server folder and open server.properties file
Find "motd="
and add the Color Codes That You Want:
u00A70 = Black
u00A71 = Dark Blue
u00A72 = Dark Green
u00A73 = Aqua
u00A74 = Dark Red
u00A75 = Purple
u00A76 = Gold
u00A77 = Grey
u00A78 = Dark Grey
u00A79 = Indigo
u00A7a = Lime
u00A7b = Light Blue
u00A7c = Light Red
u00A7d = Pink
u00A7e = Yellow
u00A7f = White
u00A7l = Bold
u00A7n = Underline
u00A7s = Italic
u00A7k = Magic

Isn't that just the same as using '§'? That's Unicode #00A7 (http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0080.pdf)
HTML coding: "&00A7"; or "§"
Common trick: Just copy pasted that into Notepad (your server.properties file).

Edit #2 - So annoying with the unwanted white highlighting...

There's an easier way:

Put § (copy it) and find the number/letter for the colour. There's only one number/letter so it's easier.
