Hey guys! As each snapshot comes out, minecraft gets closer to the 1.8 update, which in my opinion, is one of the largest updates ever. Not only is new stuff being added, but even the existing things are being changed. With these changes, some items are about to become more important in the game. Here is the list of things I definitely would not throw away now!
1. Zombie flesh- probably one of the most thrown out items, now can be traded to villagers for emeralds and other goodies.
2. Lapis Lazuli- no longer only hideous block, but now is required for enchanting.
3. Vines- want mossy stone bricks? Well, you'll need to make a trip to the swamp.
4. Wool- before, 3 wool was all you needed for the game, and never again did you use it, unless for building. Now, banners will make wool a valuable item.
5. Nether quartz- while this is already a popular item, if you are in need of some granite or diiorite, quartz is your new answer.
6. Gravel and dirt- dirt is seldom used except for pillaring, but now for coarse dirt, gravel and dirt will be more usable.
7. Iron- ok this one is debatable- iron is already one of the most used items, so just add iron trapdoors to the list of iron uses.
8. Slime balls- like trampolines or redstone? slime blocks will come in very handy!
9.stone slabs- no longer only for building, will also be used for armor stands for displaying your best stuff!
10. sticks- made to many and have to burn them? Don't! Armor stands, banners, and other new items need them for crafting!
11. Sheep- technically not items, but they now drop mutton, which when cooked, feeds 6 food bars.. not bad for mutton. :P
12. Sponge- once a creative mode luxury, now available for everyone! Soak up all of that water!
13. Stone bricks- already very common in building, but now needed for all the other stone brick variations not craftable before.
14. Item frames- going from decoration to actually usable in redstone with comparators!
From TheBatCow--15. Fancy Fences & Gates - Now you can decorate with all the types of fences and gates!
From Davexx100--16. New Doors - All woods have your own door
From Mattlegostar--17.Carrots- Now you can use them to tame rabbits!
If you have anything to add, please comment below! :P
I got my information from minecraft.gamepedia.com/1.8#Blocks_and_Items_2 which is an up to date 1.8 change log!
Don't forget to Diamond, Favorite, and Subscribe if you enjoyed! :)
