Sup lads, Traven here (wasn't I dead?) with another blog, which, is about, god, just read the title, I shouldn't have to explain it.

Now, I can imagine what you're thinking:

Minecraft Movie - Is it worth it? What Minecraft fan wouldn't be like this!?

Sadly, me, after a little thinking . . . *curses brain*

STORY?

The first thing that pops into my head is - what the hell would they make it about? I mean really, what? I guess they could just go for the classic: Steve wakes up, Steve gets wood (no pun intended), Steve goes to Nether, Steve beats up EnderDragon, Steve reads Morgan Freeman credits. But, no matter what way they spin that, I don't think it'll work. It just feels like one of those overdone clichés to me.

Next thing they could do, which will probably cause a lot of hate - Herobrine.

Minecraft Movie - Is it worth it? (I need to stop adding images)

I know, it sounds kinda stupid. To me anyway. It's just something you can't do. Herobrine isn't even in the friggin' game legit! Herobrine, like the fight with the ender dragon, is just, cliché. Overdone, and unless they can pull off a miracle, will not work.

TRADITIONALLY, VIDEO-GAME ADAPTIONS NEVER WORK

We all know this. It's general knowledge. Most of the time, adaptions of video-games just completely bomb. Blow up the theaters. Millions dead! VIDEO GAMES BANNED! WE DIDN'T DO IT, IT WAS THE MOVIE OH GOD!!!!!!!!!

*ahem*

I apologize, I went into a very, very dark place. Anyway, it happens, and I have yet to see a good movie version of any game. There are a few I am excited for, and which I hope to God the studios do not screw up eg. Uncharted and Sly Cooper. But, lately, I started watching more and more of these recreations, and on a scale of 1 - Atrotious, most are either mediocre or tactical nukes. Doom, Prince of Persia, Silent Hill, okay, I guess. They had their moments, and their pitfalls, but they weren't horrible. On the other hand, just watch the Super Mario Bros. movie, or pretty much anything directed by Uwe Boll, are horrendous. Super Mario Bros. tried to be something completely different, it's own thing, with dinosaurs that are actually humans #lazywritersandordesigners and just had some ridiculous writing! And Uwe Boll just cares about directing things off popular things and exploiting the German tax system to get rich off of a piece of **** (or something like that).

And that's where these adaptions go wrong. They don't know what they're based on. The reason I think some of the movies I listed as mediocre were kinda good was because, while watching them, I'd know what the hell I was watching. This was the game in movie form. They had an idea of what they were doing, and knew how to recreate the worlds of the digital realm, to an extent. They cared about their work! I mean, they're still bad at times, but they still pull off a decent job.

Now, from what I do know of the films production, it is being made by Warner Bros. AND Mojang, the people who made Minecraft, and so hopefully they'll be able to breathe the essence of the game into the movie.

WHY MAKE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

I amn't hating on the idea, I'd love to see a Minecraft movie, especially if it's done well! But, I honestly have to question why it's being made? I guess anyone will go ahead and say: "BEHCAS ITS AWESOMES!!!" And, believe it or not, the Cap-Spammers have a point.

Minecraft Movie - Is it worth it?

No, I'm not joking. It's that simple fact that makes this happen: Minecraft IS Awesome. Minecraft is popular. One of the most popular Indie Games ever made! I mean, there's LEGO Minecraft sets, Minecraft books, Minecraft swords, pickaxes, teddies t-shirts,toy sets! I have a redstone guide  bought from Easons a few days ago and I saw a chunk of aisle of a toy store dedicated to Minecraft! Its so well known, so marketable, it could make millions in cinemas just for being Minecraft.

The same thing happened with the LEGO Movie. It was made into a movie, in my view, because it was so famous, it could make a lot of money for the studio. And oh my god was it so gooooooood!!!!!!!! The level of animation was beyond comprehension and it had hilarious writing. And, from what I know, one of the producers for the Minecraft movie, just so happened to be a producer, of the LEGO movie. Maybe he can lend a helping hand into guiding this project to success.

WHAT DO I THINK?

Well, I think it has potential, but its one of those things that, for me, teeters on the edge: A plate balancing on a stick. If it leans too far in any direction, it'll tip over and shatter. With this movie, you have to get it just right, and I mean JUST RIGHT. It needs to be perfectly balanced, if you get me.

I think they should try and create a story based around the multiplayer experience of Minecraft. You ever hear of a little film that was never to be called Minecraft Movie: Birth of Man?

It was a kickstarter project started by Brandon Laatsch to make a fan film, the story of which was (I think) of Steve having to deal with Griefers who decided to attack him. It looked fantastic. It was stylish and extravagant, perfectly capturing the world of Minecraft in Live-Action and even the trauma of PvP and Griefing. I was so excited, and then I found out that it was cancelled, due to the fact that Mojang owned Minecraft, and its intellectual properties. Or, as Notch put it:  "We don't allow half a million kickstarters based on our ip without any deals in place. :/ "

Yeah. I don't blame him. I'm a little peeved, but I get it. Anyway, this Birth of Man fan film should be what the real movie should be like. I say it should show the wider world of Minecraft, what the community is like, what people do that is awesome and what people do that is horrible. Give a well represented vision of the people of Minecraft.

So yeah, that's my view on this whole thing. A movie that shows what the community is like. But, that's just my view. Tell me what you guys think, I'd love to see some different views and opinions on it. If you liked this, be sure to diamond it, and subscribe to 'Come Fly With Me'! See yas!

i has the possibility 2 go both ways, although i watched the trailer, and i think its easier 2 mess up a live action adaption compared 2 an animation.

i still cant wait 4 it 2 come out though

Dood, I never said the LEGO movie sucked. In fact, I said the OPPOSITE! THE LEGO MOVIE WAS AMAZING! Although, you have to admit, quite a lot of them do suck. Not all, but alot.

Whoops, I missed that. Aside from Lego, I do agree, they are not good.
