~Please note that these views are my personal opinions. If you do not agree, that is perfectly fine my be and I will not make any attempt to change your mind on the subject. This is simply a personal opinion of mine that I feel like sharing.~

We all know that in Minecraft, villages have added that little bit of charm and homeliness that takes away that feeling of being alone in massive, (almost) never-ending world. While taking a walk through these patchwork-coding, randomly generated layouts, you may notice a lot of rather strange and sometimes annoying features. In this short little review, I will express my views on the matters listed in the space below.

The Testificates

Yes yes, we all know that these lovely little guys look a whole lot like our favourite pessimistic undersea friend, Squidward. But, is that really something to complain about, seeing as how the world they are placed in is home to sentient green explosives, time-jumping Slendermen, blobs of goop, and bow-wielding boneheads? Minecraft is a fantasy world, made up of fantasy creatures (alongside many normal creatures, but that's beside the point) and I think that having strange-looking people is a wonderful detail. If they were to look like the player-character, it would be far too normal to fit into the fantasy world of Minecraft, but that's just my opinion.

The Village Streets

Gravel. By far my least favourite material, that I only find useful for the sake of farming slate. When I first looked at the roads of these villages, I was unquestionably disgusted by rather unpleasant sight of gravel roads. I understand that these aren't towns or big cities, and that gravel is probably the only thing the poor little Testificates could afford, but really..at least use a material with some sort of aesthetic value. When I'm playing and locate a village, the first thing I do is take the time to mine out every piece of gravel and replace it with cobblestone.
But then again, cobblestone (or any other material that does not like to obey the laws of gravity) could result in awkward glitches. Gravel is a lot easier to set as a spawn-in, due to it's ability to form to the land around it, so I can see why it's the choice material. But, and I'm no coding wizard, how long would it take to add some lines of code to give the paths a more concrete (no pun intended) layout, allowing for nicer materials to be used? Just a thought.

Building Flaws

This will be my last point of interest to cover, and it's really not that big of a deal. Due to my OCD, a few of the buildings have caused me a lot of annoyance in the time since its addition. Mainly, bar-like building, with the back porch/patio. The biggest annoyance of this structure is the dirt flooring in the back. Now, when it spawns in a flat land, and the dirt is still level with the rest of the world, I can deal with it just fine. But, when these structures spawn elevated, and there is a dirt porch floating in the air? Cue the OCD Klaxon in my head. And the farming huts having dirt floors cause a similar annoyance, but I can put up with that a bit more than the dirt porches. And that's all I have to say about that.

Minor Details

A few minor details that could use some adjusting would be fixing the coding so that villages spawned in hilly and mountainous regions won't have those annoying elevated doors that trap the villagers outside at night. And maybe add a code to make a few of the Testificates look more feminine, making it less awkward when you walk in on two villagers during a moment of bliss.

Wrapping Up

Well, that's about all I really have to say on the matter. Any questions/comments/complaints you would like to leave, please feel free to drop a comment below, or shoot me a PM. I will try my best to respond and thank you for taking the time to read my rantings on the subject. ^-^
