[Minecraftian Warfare]

In Minecraft, the art of slaying without being slain is both challenging and rewarding. While many believe to win at Minecraft fights, you must click as much as possible, there is much more subtly and skill involved. A true warrior uses strategy, plans ahead, and in the end has a major advantage over his or her competitor, be that creeper or enemy faction. I will show you how to battle effectively, efficiently, and ultimately become a PvP champion!

Tools of The Trade

A warrior is only as good as his tools allow. This means coming prepared is everything. Don't think that a sword and some food will be sufficient, you are going to need a lot more!

Sword: Your sword should be equal to or greater than in power to your enemy's. Attacking a foe who has an iron sword with a stone sword is both foolish and reckless. Enchantments are a must at high level fighting, with sharpness and fire aspect being the most powerful, and knock-back being something to avoid in most cases (see "Strategies" ). One must always have a sword, no exceptions!

Bow: A bow is something that some warriors neglect. Though its uses are plentiful, many believe that they are unnecessary in combat. They are wrong on many fronts. Bows are the best long-range weapon, and are very easy to acquire. Aiming takes a bit of practice, but being able to pick off targets from afar is certainly worth it. Combine with flame arrow, power, and infinity enchantments to make this your strongest asset.

Bucket: The bucket is the most under-rated tool in Minecraft. Give it some lava and you have a great surprise attack perfect for dealing damage to hoards, give it water and you can save yourself from fire and push back enemies! Heck, give it milk and you can be free from nasty effects of splash potions! The bucket is so useful that I wouldn't go into serious battle without it!

Potions: Though they are a bit expensive, a good splash potion can win a battle on its own. Every potion has a strategy that can be used with it, from a speedy ambush to a toxic trap, these things can be used in over 100 different ways! Be creative, and your enemy wont know what hit them!

TnT: In actual battle, TnT doesn't work well at all, but when combined with traps or cannons, its a force to be reckoned with! A battle is more than just the fighting, which means that if you can blow up an enemy base, you are doing "damage" in a different sense. A loss of morale, supplies, and a base can win a fight just by itself.

Armor: This may sound strange, but armor isn't that important. I mean, have a set of iron armor on when fighting, but don't fret it if your enemy has diamond. If all goes according to plan, you shouldn't even be touched by the enemies! Attack without being attacked, that's the motto! Also, if you are a spy, ditch the armor.

The Types Of Warriors

Not all warriors work on the front-lines, not all warriors even directly fight! There are many types of warriors, all of which have the potential to bring victory!

The Swordsman: The traditional fighter, brandishing an iron sword and armor. His goal: shed as much blood as possible before going down. Little strategy involved.

The Archer: Taking refuge in a tree, tower, or other high location, the archer generally wears leather armor. A bow with infinity is a must, as through the whole battle they will rain arrows on the oncoming storm of enemy warriors.

The Healer: Rather than make the attacks, he goes around fixing the defenses, helping those in need, and dishing out potions to all who could use them. Though not as exciting as the others, healers are crucial to the success of a team.

The Spy: No armor, plenty of invisibility potions, some TnT, and a diamond sword. The spy goes way into enemy territory and makes their life much harder. From going around assassinating healers to blowing up storage facilities, this job is both fun and productive. Just be careful to not get caught, because a spy's equipment is valuable.

The Captain: Make the strategies, set the traps, you are in control of the whole operation. The fate of the battle lies on you, but no pressure! With your free time you can manage cannons or help the healers, but always be thinking about your team's next step.

Strategies

There are many ways to fight, and every situation is it's own puzzle. Should you go all out, should you trick them, should you retreat? These questions are for you to decide, but here are some things to consider while doing so.

Watch and Wait:
Knowing what your enemy is up to makes planning your attack much easier, so sit back and pay attention! Are they waiting for you to make the first move? In that case, maybe you should surprise them! Perhaps they are on their way, in a full-on charge? Get the archers going and fire off your long-range cannons!

Diversions:
Start a forest fire! Stage a fake attack! Blow up some stuff! If the enemy is distracted, you can attack with surprise on your side, and cause confusion which will even further your advantage! Just don't go too overboard, a little goes a long way.

Height Advantage:
Having a base on a hill will make the enemy have a hard time getting up to you, while your forces can bat them off with ease. In this situation, knock-back can send many a foe to their death, so it is suggested you put that to good use.

Traps:
With traps, you should go with simplicity. The most complex of traps may never even be set off, and that is a huge waste of time and effort. A simple pressure-plate and TnT will work fine if you know how to hide it! Place traps where the enemy will be heading through, but in darker areas so that its less obvious. Stay away from spider web traps, these are not practical.

Admit Defeat:
If you are at a disadvantage, a retreat it really your best move. Why lose more equipment than you already have? Regroup, rethink things, and go at it again with a new approach! Know when you are beaten, and figure out your weaknesses!

[Conclusion]

I could go on forever detailing different aspects of Minecraft Warfare, and this blog has barely covered all there is to know, but I believe it is time to end this off. If you really want to get good at fighting in Minecraft, practice! It will come to you eventually!
