Introduction:

Hello People Of Planet Minecraft! Flicker Here with another Blog! And this one, Is a MineDeas Contest entry, a late one to! Well lets, jump right in, The blog will be separated into different parts according to the idea!

Overall Idea

Well To start off, Minecraft rain storms can last For a very long time, several minutes in the real world, and several in game days. Jeb Has already implemented a simple form of Flooding, Cauldrons will collect rain water when placed outside, but it takes forever! Flooding will vary according to Difficulty. For instance, on Hard Mode you have a chance of a flood that can flood water up to 7 blocks high, in any given area! Or on Peaceful mode, Water will only flood up to one block, on normal 5 blocks.

How it Will Work

The Flood system Will work based on a Few things: Difficulty, Game mode, and Biome. Flooding can occur when rain systems last for more then two in game days. Rain water will randomly place Water blocks, if the storm is worse enough, the water can be piled right next to each other causing terrible currents. When the Water is Placed by the rain, it will spread in all directions North, West, South, And East. Also water flow can be come constant, not flowing, but the chanced for that to happen would be a 40% Chance. Depending on Difficulty, rain water will build up in various ways, for instance on Peaceful, water wouldn't become to much of a hazard, and will only flood up to 1 block high. On Normal, the water can be flooded up to 5 blocks high, rain water will focus on multiple areas at once, 'stacking' blocks of water on top of each other, causing multiple currents and hazards towards the player. Flooding on Hard Mode will cause waters to flood up to 7 blocks high, causing tremendous problems for the player, such as having crops/signs being washed away, or the chance of water coming over coming buildings, and drowning the player, and live stock. Flooding in Biomes don't really vary, except in desert biomes, in which flooding does not occur. On Game Mode, Flooding will happen differently: For instance, Survival, Flooding will happen normally, according to Difficulty. In Creative, Flooding will not happen at all. In Hardcore, Flooding will be like Hard mode flooding. On Adventure, It will be the same as survival.

Why it Will Work

As Minecraft's player base grows, So does the games's features, Minecraft isn't as hard as it was back in the old days, like when you couldn't cook pork chops, or stack food, or Draw back bows. Some new features are changing the game for the better, and making it both easy, and hard at the same time, but Flooding Will add new difficulty and Challenges for the player base. Flooding will give you an edge to fear mass rain storms, like in real life.
