He and She loved their children dearly and wanted them to enjoy the gift of the Universe they had created, but they knew that something was missing. With the new Races changing the world as they saw fit, a strange Energy was being created. He and She observed this energy with caution, not sure of what it was.
“Husband, what could this be?” She said.
“I do not know. But it must have something to do with our Children’s creations,” He replied.
In a short one hundred years, the Energy grew a sentience of its own. It awoke, scared and unsure of what was going on.
“Where am I?” It asked. “What is happening?”
“Husband, it’s… aware,” She said.
“I can see that,” He replied. “Do you have a name?”
“I… don’t know,” It said.
“What are you feeling?” She asked It.
“I feel… everything. I feel the pain of the Races, the joy of new parents, the greed, envy, sorrow, freedom—” It spoke, quickening to unintelligible words.
“You are not One consciousness, are you?” He asked.
It stopped speaking. “What mean you?” It asked.
“You are Two minds, within one body,” She explained.
“I… I don’t know. I feel scared, and not just from the Races.”
“You will be fine,” She cooed. “We can help you separate the Two. You won’t be one body after, but you will become—”
“—stable,” He interrupted. “But we will only do this if it is what you want.”
“I would like that, please,” It begged. “Please separate the Two.”
And so, He and She pulled the Two Minds apart, forming Two Beings. One was named “Sanity,” and she came from the Voice It spoke with. The other was named “Madness,” and he came from the Voice that spoke within It. Each became able to influence decisions by the Races, though never fully control them. Since they came from the It that felt everything, they both felt a connection to the Races and were able to guide them through their hearts. After centuries of being formless on the Physical Plane, He and She constructed physical Shells for them to wear, allowing them to wander the Physical Plane as they wished.
