In a world where inspiration and reference material is literally at our fingertips, what defines originality?
There are countless topics or pieces of art to draw creative promise from, what does originality mean to you?
And when does content/thoughts become... Unoriginal?
In this blog I intend to answer these questions to the best of my ability using my personal opinions.

According to a Google search, the definition is;
The ability to think independently and creatively.
I feel that to truly understand the meaning of Originality, is to also look at the synonyms that the define the word, let's take a few as an example...
(I recommend looking up the definitions to these)
I chose these examples because for me, I believe this is important to keep in mind when creating your own unique content.
As I previously mentioned, inspiration and reference can be found everywhere, and it can be hard to find your own voice in a sea of people trying to find their own.

With anything that you are doing, whether it be minecraft related or not, the things that improve your skills, is practice.
To some extent, most people learn visually when creating art, we are creatures that are influenced strongly by what is around us and our environment, so it's no surprise to see that people mimic each other... But what makes you stand out?
The important thing to know is the difference between reference or examples and copying.
Your reference/Practise pieces should be just that, you shouldn't call it your own. Develop your own style and you'll be well on your way to originality!
Things become unoriginal when it is a carbon copy without a unique stamp to it.
There are some people who will rage about posts not being original, especially skins and builds... But the issue is with that, what happens if you want to make, for example; a medieval house or a bunny girl skin but it's been done before... Does this make it unoriginal... Even if you yourself have never done it before?
Everyone has the right to input, even if some deem it "Worn out" or "Over done"; that's their opinions and if you've never done it before, you've never had your unique spin on it, then it's your original, to further illustrate this; imagine a singersong writer, making a song about a lost love and posting it to the internet... It would be silly if all the comments were "Oh Adele did this before" or "My gosh Taylor Swift did this first, dislike." based solely on the type of song it is (Love song) -- Because before these people came along for you to use as examples there were people before them and so forth until you get to the pioneer of that movement.
We need to get it out of our heads that people OWN genres...

Don't throw out amazing ideas just because someone had the idea before you...
Remember...
Innovation Individuality Resourcefulness
And for these reasons, you could be a pioneer yourself and add a new perspective to the table.
