The rain hit off my jacket as I sat on the park bench, with my dog at my feet. Not gonna lie, I love the rain. It may sound cliché, and boring, but I really do love the sound of it as it hits the pavement, the splash as it falls into little puddles around me.
I love the smell of rain. It does have a smell I promise, it's the smell of spring showers, whilst walking your dog early morning, when you're actually enjoying yourself, but you are in a bad mood because you had to get up early to walk your stupid dog called Mitski (who you love really) and now your hair is soaked.
It reminds me of me and her, when we were together. God, I loved her so much. Great. Now I'm crying as the rain hits off my jacket as I sit on a park bench, with my dog at my feet. There's a little puddle gathering at my feet, and a memory flashes before my eyes. She and I, on this exact bench, Mitski soaked, sitting at our feet, the rain pouring down our necks whilst eating ice cream. Her with chocolate, matching her eyes, me with bubblegum, the blue and pink blending in perfectly with my hair. Neither of us had jackets on, we hadn't expected it to rain, and definitely not this heavily. She's wearing a brightly coloured, rainbow, tie-die hoodie, whilst I'm in black. She loved her hoodie. So did I. So do I.
She reaches into her pocket and pulls out three paper boats. She was always an origami wizard. "Purple for me," She said, (purple was her favourite colour) "And pink for you and Mitski." In my mind's eye, I watch her place a boat on Mitski's head before he shakes it off, landing it perfectly in the puddle gathering at our feet. She laughs, pats Mitski, and places hers in the puddle next to my dog's. I place mine in, next to hers, and we link hands. We watch them float around in the puddle, being pushed around by the splashing rain and the wind.
