OK, I am going to start off with a topic that has affected me (no names given) and something I see literally everywhere.

Work, Hard Work
The majority of people on PMC with above average rank (about 15+) got that way because people liked what they posted, because that individual put time and effort into their projects/skins/TPs/ext. And that is great! In fact, even if I don't care for the work, if that user made it to a respectable level (no matter how high) I respect them because they put effort into their work. However, commonly I see people in the (respectable) level zone who did little to nothing to get there! If you think it is impossible to get anywhere on PMC without doing work, then you are in for a surprise.

One of many ways that people get free XP is a false featured image. All they have to do to get views is put up an image that may have nothing to do with Minecraft and it will instantly gain attention from the people who are looking at the recently updated page.
By no means am I talking about people who edit their images, because I do the same. It is still an image of the build, but it has effects and text added.
The Lazy

Something I see happen WAY to often is the so-called 'collaboration'. A brand new member joins PMC, and their first post is asking good builders to 'help' them with a build. And I am shocked to say that I see WAY to many respectable users falling for this trick, and ending up building everything and getting no credit! These tricksters are literally weeds to the great builders, sucking away their much earned XP!
Again, I am not talking about the group works between respectable builders in which everyone gets fair credit.
In Conclusion...
I personally believe that the amount of people getting free XP on this site are growing out of control. If you are a user who posts original work, and cares for what you do, I salute you.
I have had the 'collaboration' gimmick thrown at me once, and I did fall for it. The guy who posted this was roughly a lvl 5 before the post, but then because of a false thumbnail, has rose far above my level. He used the work of me and several other builders I know. I feel like an idiot because I fell for it, I should have known better. I mean, the guy has only made two or three things himself! And the worst part is the hit to my reputation. The 'build' features several floating islands, and most of them are so... so... horrendous that I can't believe my work is on that map! Not to mention my island that I let him use is not even in the images on the post, so people may think that I made those atrocities!
Erm... I got a bit carried away, so let me finish.
Post only your work. Never use a false featured image. If you do a collab, be sure to contribute greatly and give more credit to others than yourself. And lastly, never beg to get people to do stuff for you.
