Resource Pack Not Showing In-Game?

When you've downloaded a resource pack, there are two main ways that file can be formatted:

1. The zip file can itself be the resource pack. This is when a zip file's contents will directly have the files and folders: pack.png, pack.mcmeta, and assets inside. This format can be directly put into the resource pack folder in .minecraft with no issues and results in the resource pack having a .zip at the end of its name in the list of packs in-game

2. The zip file can have the resource pack inside of it (This is the method I use). This is when a zip file's contents will have a single folder inside of it, typically with the name of the pack as its name, and inside that folder will be the files and folders like before: pack.png, pack.mcmeta, and assets. This format cannot be placed directly into the resource pack folder in .minecraft. If the entire zip file is placed the the folder, it will not appear in-game. To have the resource pack appear in-game, the pack folder (the one directly inside the zip file that contains the other three files) needs to be taken out of the zip file and placed in the resource pack folder in .minecraft. This will then make the pack available in-game, in addition to not having the .zip at the end of the name in the list of packs (which is why I use this method)
