Intro
Hello, I know that many people have had issues with creating a resource pack that has replaced the earlier texture pack. Some issues may include: not finding certain files, not being able to name a resource pack, or not having the correct texture editing software. Because of this I have created this tutorial on the step by step process of making a 1.7.2 resource pack. I will also include a link to a download of a 1.7.2 resource pack template.
Process (Manual)
If you want to manually extract the texture files from Minecraft then this is the way to go, if you are simply installing my template then skip this step and go to the editing process
Editing (This include using the template I provide)
This will teach you how to download a good texture editor and use it
Enjoy, Diamond, and Favorite!

If you want to manually extract the texture files from Minecraft then this is the way to go, if you are simply installing my template then skip this step and go to the editing process
- Download a software that can open .jar files (I recommend 7-zip File Manager)
- Create a folder for your pack and place it in resourcepacks in the .minecraft folder which is located in %appdata% you can get to this folder by typing "run" into your start menu, then pressing enter and after that type %appdata% into the text area and press enter.
- Navigate to .minecraft / versions / 1.7.2
- Open the 1.7.2 jar with your file manager by right clicking on it and then clicking open with
- Once inside the 1.7.2 jar copy the assets folder into your pack
- After this you will have to look in your 1.7.2 jar for pack.png for the resource pack picture and copy this into your resource pack folder
- Next go back to .minecraft and go to assets
- Copy pack.mcmeta to your resourcepack folder
- Then copy icons, music, sounds, and records into assets and then minecraft
- After this you will have a resourcepack ready for editing!
