Hard Rock and Heavy Metal are awesome. I know it, and others know it too. But it's not as popular as it once was (a time before I was born). Rock used to be the $#!7! And now? Well, it's still popular, but it's fallen behind pop and genres like that. I don't have a problem with those genres, but I want to profess my love for rock! Even though I'm only fourteen, I know how great rock and metal are.
So who keeps rock alive? Why, the New Wave of Heavy Metal, of course! I'm an American, so I'll focus on the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. So who are these people? Well, to be specific, people like Avenged Sevenfold and Dream Theater(not exactly new wave, but that's beside the point) are especially keeping the spirit alive. You may have heard of others, such as Machine Head.
Of course, the classics also help. Classics such as The Beatles(mostly just Paul McCartney now, although their old albums are still awesome) and The Rolling Stones(not always my style). Songs like "Gimme Shelter" and, well, basically anything by the Beatles still rock, and are widely loved.
But back to NWoAHM. The people credited as being the roots of this wonderful movement are Pantera, Biohazard, Slipknot, and Machine Head.
Fast forward to now. My absolute favorite band, without a doubt, is Avenged Sevenfold. I love a lot of their songs(not the punk ones! Blech!). My favorites include, but are not limited to Shepherd of Fire, Heretic, and Not Ready to Die. I also really like Nightmare, Welcome to the Family, Buried Alive, Blinded in Chains, Scream, Bat Country, and everything in Hail to the King.
Feel free to post your favorite rock band, favorite rock experiences, and favorite rock songs. Give me a fist pump in the comments if you support this blog!
