Well, this is my first personal review of a server. I plan to do more of these as I look around for servers and what-have-you. If you would like to have a server reviewed, go ahead and post it in the comments below!
Disclaimer: These reviews are written using personal experience on the server. Various things that are judged include, but are not limited to:
Build quality
Staff quality and treatment of fellow players
Descriptions (server banner, comments, etc.)
Difficulty (whether of the game itself, or of mere tasks. Example: Need to type various commands to receive a kit.)
So now that that's all out of the way, let's begin.
.:Spawn:.
Well, right off the bat, we have a spawn point with some floating holographic text to show everything (personally I think holographic text is cool, but not when used to display sentences), blocks thrown all over the place, and a pretty confusing exit.
First, when you spawn in, you need to register with the whole "/register [password]" shtick. Now, this server is a cracked server. So, there's the many trolls, griefers, etc. roaming the grounds. Well, I registered and looked around. The whole setup of ultility blocks was just so confusing and messy. There was a chest over here, a random couple of anvils over here and a floating enchantment table with more bookshelves than you could count. The makeup of the spawn looks like someone went overboard with the WorldEdit randomization thing with percentages and stuff. Seriously there were grass blocks and stone and sand, bricks over there and clay up here. Now I had some trouble: Getting out of spawn. You see, the spawn was a mountain, about 25 blocks up. Problem is, you take fall damage if you go the wrong way and fall off. If you can't even get the exit to your spawn right, then how much have you had to drink tonight?
.:Gameplay:.
I died. A lot. Not from being inexperienced, but simply from dieing from fall damage at spawn or by this one "Trusted" rank guy who was spamming his Enchanted gear (which all had every enchantment and the enchantments were all level 1000! If you hover over the name of the weapon you got killed with in chat, you can see the stats, so that's how I knew.)
Well, after a while of this crap, I left. I returned an hour later and explored the world. Turns out some guy decided to play a spiteful move and claim a big chunk of the world and didn't even use it. Seriously, I walked around punched trees and I couldn't break them. There were no buildings in that land, just nothing but the generated terrain.
No admins were on at the time, but judging from TrustedNot's review of the server, it was pretty bad.
.:Conclusion:.
So, overall, it's pretty bad. I had a loathesome experience and deleted that server from the list after trying to build a house that got set on fire by some a-hole when I was out getting some stone.
The spawn is utter garbage, the players are terrible and unfair, the world is just... bad.
I give it the following score:
Final Score: 1.5/10
