Hey guys! I got a little something something for you today that I've been thinking about for a while.

Overview:
I have to say this before I get really in to this I want to explain what I'll be saying. Recently, I've been looking for a good server to play on. Me and a couple of my friends really just want a simple survival server with chest protection and land protection. We've found a few decent ones where we've gotten most of what we want, but they either were too "overdone" (I'll get in to that later) or glitchy and not very user-friendly.

So I wanted to make a little blog to explain what servers are out there, and how they work, along with some of my own personal suggestions on finding servers and even makng them.

What Kinds of Servers are Out There:
There are several different types of servers out there, and I'm going to name the most I can think of and their "rarity" (How many of the type you'll find)

1. Large Public "Filled-to-the-brim-with-plugins" Server
Rarity: Common

Now I have nothing against these kinds of servers, I just find them a bit... well, chaotic. You'll find lots of these scrolling through the Server section of PMC, with everything from Towny to Lockette to anything. These things have well over a dozen plugins running all for one server. What I don't like about these servers is 1. The only way to rank up and actually get a spot to build or be able to play something is by donating. Now I have no problem with donating to a server, I just find that giving 10$ just so you can have a 10x10 square of land doesn't seem all that... user friendly. They are usually completely full too, even with 150 slots.

2. Role Playing/Game Server
Rarity: You-will-see-these-everywhere

These are the servers that range from Hunger Games to TF2 to MCInfected. There are SO many of these out there it's pretty ridiculous. most of these can be fun, but 90 percent of the time you have to donate to have fun, wait hours to play in one game, or they are full. I have seen a few good ones, but really if your looking to play classic Minecraft, this isn't the way to go.

3. Jail Servers
Rarity: Pretty Common

Jail servers are the servers where you have to rankup and get money to get better stuff. in hindsight, it's a good idea for a server, but people have overdone it. Usually the people who have been there for longer prey on the newer guys, which makes it hard for them to start out. Now that's not true on all servers, and really it's part of the whole "Jail" thing, but it can be frustrating. Overall, these can be fun, you just have to find the right one.

4. PVP Servers
Rarity: Kind of Rare, but you'll still see them

There's not too much to say about these kinds of servers. You just have to find the right ones to have fun, which is true for a lot of servers. They can be a blast, or a complete let-down.

5. Simple Survival Servers
Rarity: Rare

These are the kind of server I personally like. Something with a cool spawn-point, some basic rules, and a couple of worlds you can go build in. it can have chest locks or no chest locks, either way it will be like playing regular Minecraft with a few friends. Like I stated in the overview, these are the kinds of servers I prefer. unfortunately, there aren't as many out there as I think there should be.

6. Faction/RPG Servers
Rarity: Common

These servers go along with the big public servers with lots of plugins. They have factions and Events and quests an everything. A lot of the times you need to rank up to be able to do certain things, and a lot of times on these kinds of servers it takes a long time. They are a bit less chaotic the the big public servers, but not by much. Once again (I sound like a broken record) you need to find the right one for you to have fun.

Those are the main types of servers that are around PMC. There are some good, some not so good, and some pretty normal. The only way to find a good server you like is by looking and testing. Make sure you read the description of each server you try thoroughly so you don't get suprised when you lofg on. Remember to ALWAYS be careful, and if something looks fishy, don't try it.

Personal Suggestions:

As much as I love good servers, no matter what kind there are, I believe there should be a few changes. more classic Minecraft servers and less Hunger Games and giant plugin servers. I know, there are certain kinds of those servers that are actually fun, but a lot of them require way to much to be able to have fun. I hope people will understand this sooner or later, because I'm sure there are people like me out there.

That's all I have to say right now, and I'll be sure to throw some update logs up if I think of anything more. Remember to DIAMOND if you liked it and SUBSCRIBE if you want more!
