After seeing the introduction of Emeralds in Minecraft, lot's of people thought it was a very good idea, including me. But I feel there should be more uses for Emeralds, other than for trading and powering the Beacon Block. I would like to see Emerald tools and armor! Here are my reasons why I think so:
1. There needs to be more uses for Emeralds.
2. With them being much more rarer than Diamonds, Emeralds could be one of the best items in the game.
If they are rarer than Diamonds, shouldn't Emeralds be better? If you couldnt find a village, and you had a TON of Emeralds, what would you do with them? Sure, you can make them into blocks for decoration, but wouldn't it be cool if they were made into armor and tools?
The durability and efficiency of the tools could be, for example, twice as better as diamond.

Emerald tiers! But for the sake of realisticness, make emeralds in between iron and diamond!!
