After playing Terraria for a while, I decided to screw around with slime blocks. Suddenly, an idea popped into my head: Wouldn't slime blocks be a cool addition to Minecraft? So after some thought, I came up with a few cool ideas, and I figured why not share them with the community?

My idea of slime blocks would give an actual reason to farm slimes (I'm sure people would [or have already] come up with some cool ways to do so) as they would have many different uses and properties such as:

a) Fall Damage
• One layer of slime blocks would cause 20% of fall damage to be taken away
• Two layers of slime blocks would cause 40% of fall damage to be taken away
• Three layers of slime blocks would cause 50% of fall damage to be taken away
• This essentially allows you to fall from approximately 53 blocks (and yes i know this can be done with water easily)

b) Piston extension
• Pistons can normally push only up to 12 blocks on their own
• By replacing the last block that the piston is pushing with a slime block, 12 more could be added onto the end.
• This would work both for pushing and retracting

c) Transparency
• Same transparency as ice

d) Slipperiness
• Same slipperiness as ice blocks allowing for another option for fast travel

e) Crafting
• One block can be crafted with 4 slimeballs in a 2x2 grid
• 3 blocks can be used to make 6 slime plates, using the same crafting form as snow layers

f) Slime Plates
• Slime plates would help with sliding and jumping
• Same sliding properties as the block
• Jumping of the plate would let you jump higher as if you had Jump Boost IIII on. (4 Blocks)

I don't like the idea to be honest.

A) Placing one slime block down means you have to land bang on that block. Placing one water down means you can land in that general area because water spreads.

B) You can just add pistons on pistons.

C) Bit unoriginal.

D) Same as above. Why can't I just slide on ice?

E) Meh.

F) If is has the same sliding properties as the block, why would I craft it? I would just use the block.

I see your point of view here, and to be honest it's not my favorite idea either.
However:A) True
B) Also true, just realized that :|
C) The only inspiration I had was from terraria, no other posts
D) You could, I just though that slime could be another renewable resource you could use if you wanted
E) Yeh
F) For the jumping effect, and you get more bang for your buck. 3 Slime Blocks = 6 Slime Plates (oops, forgot to put that in the post :3 it's in the image album though, I'll add that in a sec)
But thanks for just being blunt about it, I actually love criticism
