Staring Glitch

When I start minecraft I click login then it shows updating minecraft. It says it's done but the green line isn't even at the end yet. It wont finish so what should I so what should I do? I tried uninstalling and install it again but it won't show up in the programs when i go to the uninstall thing. So can you help me out with this guys?

Open Minecraft. next to the log in button there is a an options button. Click it. Press Force Update.

yea! hope that helps! (this also gets rid of ANY mods and stuff that were not with the original minecraft so any modifications to the .jar are now removed)
