For all you advanced users, this tutorial isn't really worth reading, but for those of you new to the game or just want an easy way to start out into survival. Also, even for those experienced players, take a look at my tips. There may be something useful for you. IF YU LIEK IT THEN YU SHOOD HAV PUT A DIMOND ON IT ^

Beginner's Guide: (NOTE: ALL steps are based on personal preference; This guide takes a "better safe than sorry" approach to the game, to promote the success of those less-experienced players)

STEP 1: Get wood. And yes, I'm talking about in-game. chop down one tree, so you'll have enough to make a crafting table and a wooden ax.

STEP 2: Place crafting table and create said ax.

STEP 3: Chop down trees until your ax breaks. This is a sufficient amount to last you a while.

STEP 4: Make a wooden pickax.

STEP 5: Again, mine cobble until your pick breaks.

STEP 6: Make a few stone pickaxes and swords.

STEP 7: Kill stuff. You're gonna need the food.

STEP 8: Once you have a decent amount of food, gather about 20 dirt.

STEP 9: When the sun begins to set, build a dirt tower straight up to stand on. If you're up far enough, you won't be attacked by mobs.

STEP 10: Wait the night out. Don't come down from the tower til all of the mobs below have died from the fire from the sun.

STEP 11: Mine. DO NOT MINE STRAIGHT DOWN. Make a stair case downward, but be careful of what's in front of you, so you won't fall into a cave or crevice. Make sure to mine all of the coal and iron you find.

STEP 12: Make a furnace and melt down your iron to make a pickax. Only one. If that one breaks later, you can make another.

STEP 13: Mine some more. If you ever begin to run out of food, use your iron to go gather more. You'll also need to get more wood. It's always good to have a lot of wood. You need it for mostly everything.

STEP 15: Once you have a sufficient amount of iron/coal (preferably 1 or 2 stacks of each, melt it all down and create some torches.

STEP 16: Create an underground home, nothing too spacious, and be sure to light it VERY well. It helps to have a few large chests, one crafting table, 4+ furnaces, a bed (if you killed a few sheep earlier), and doors to cover all exits.

STEP 17: Make iron armor. It's not something new players think about, but it will save you.

STEP 18: Make some iron axes, pickaxes, swords, and a hoe.

STEP 19: Hopefully in your endeavors you've found a melon, carrot, or potato. You need to make a farm in order to have a sustainable food source. I won't draw it out in this guide. Just Google "melon farm" or a farm corresponding to whatever you have. This step isn't necessary but it will save you a lot of time killing animals.

STEP 20: Now that you have plenty of coal, iron, food, armour, and a safe place to stay, it's time to diamond mine. The best (quickest) way to diamond mine is cave diving. Google it. I will also put mining tips at the end.

STEP 21: Mine more diamonds. Keep gathering the other materials you find too. You'll be surprised how quick you run out if you don't.

STEP 22: Repeat step 21.

STEP 23: Once you have about 30-40 diamonds, make diamond armor. Better safe than sorry.

STEP 24: Now that you have a good collection of most resources and sufficient protection, you may move to the surface if you like. Still, make sure that your house is well lit and all exits are blocked by doors.

You now have a solid foundation to continue your endeavors in your MC ventures. Here are some helpful tips for your MC activities:

Mining
-Always carry a TON of torches. Light every part of whatever cave you're in. Even if you have brightness all
the way up, mobs can still spawn in your caves.
-Carry a couple buckets of water. Dump it onto any lava so there wont be any risk of falling in, and you also
now have a source of obsidian. It can always be picked back up with your empty bucket.
-Unless you have access to home commands, always remember your way out of your mine/cave. You need
a way home.
WoodCutting
-The most efficient way to cut wood is in a jungle biome. On the thicker 2x2 trees, you can make a spiral
staircase up the tree and chop it entirely so you won't waste any wood.
-If you have a lot of flat-ish space around your house, it'd be smart to keep a stock of saplings and
bonemeal (optional) so you can have access to plenty of wood whenever you need it.
Farming
-Place glass blocks above the dirt you have used your hoe on so it does not get damaged, but still gets
sunlight.

Great guide, although I would say you would go out to the surface a little earlier, and not try to get 30-40 diamonds. But overall, very nicely done

The whole surface thing is mostly up to personal preference. I like staying underground for a while just because I tend to gather a lot more supplies then most before I make a surface home. Being a picky builder, If and when I build on the surface. It has to be beautiful and big haha. And the 30-40 diamonds is simply because new/noob players have a harder time defending themselves and it's best to over-estimate when you're not as experienced as most. Though I should list the fact that some of these steps are based on personal preference. Thanks for the feedback!
