32,000 years ago, a cave man in France painted the very first cave painting ever. Well, that's disputable, there were hand prints on walls before that, but this was the first painting.Maybe it was painted because it looked pretty, but I'm guessing it was a way of documenting what happened. If you look at most cave paintings, they are all of things that happened in a day. They are of hunting, gathering, even farming, some are just of animals but you never see one that is not documenting something that happened. Say I were to paint a picture of a horse I saw. Then I would be documenting that I saw a horse. Say I drew a picture of a horse I didn't see. That would not be documenting, but imagining, using a much higher level of thinking that was usually not achieved at that time. This, I believe, was a way of communicating. If someone were to look at that cave painting of the horse, they would know that the painter and his group had found a horse at some point. This would be useful when passing information down through a family. We do the same in our culture today. If you post a photo on facebook, or even just take a photo, it is creating a record of what you did. Say I posted a picture of me standing with a horse. There is a record that I have found a horse, somewhere. So, yeah. Thats kind of what I wanted to cover in this part, so, hope you liked it! If you guys do like it we'll come out with more!
