So for years they trained together, student and teacher, soon becoming equals and good friends. Even Princess Celestia was jealous of the amazing power Trixie held.

However, Trixie's eye began to stray. She focused on the small things, the petty, showy tricks. She was capable of great power but she was more interested in glamour. Soon, Luna and Trixie grew apart, set on different paths by their different ideas of magic. Slowly, Trixie's power locked itself away, deep inside her.

One day, Princess Celestia gained a new student, that Luna took great interest in as well. Her name was Twilight Sparkle. She was rumoured to have more power than Trixie. This angered and saddened Trixie. She turned away from the castle for good, a single tear rolling down her cheek. 'I will be the greatest and most powerful pony in Equestria!' She vowed to herself.
