hey all...
today, i decided to write about something that has been on my mind for the past week.
in case you can't tell, don't know, or lack short-term memory, that thing is:
comments
so, yes, comments.
what i am proposing to you today is that the most important and potentially both helpful
and/or harmful thing you can do is leave a comment. taking a few seconds to tell someone how you feel
can help make them a better PMCer, writer, artist, or person in general.
in this writer's opinion, a comment can do more good than a diamond, favorite, or even a sub!
when you comment, you give someone tangible, positive reinforcement. telling someone personally that you like their stuff can really make them feel good, better than giving them a diamond or whatever.
what to do when you comment:
when others comment:
now we move on to a less-than-happy side of commenting. :(
because we don't have a 'dislike' button, many users will comment when they don't like something.
constructive criticism is okay, even admirable, but when people flame, troll, and hate, they
can really hurt the person. i'm going to keep this short, because there are god-knows-how-many rants
about this same exact thing. in a nutshell: PLAY NICE.
umm... i've ran out of things to say... that was rather short...
oh well, quality pwns quantity any day of the week
please comment.
not only here, but everywhere.
thank you, that is all.

what to do when you comment:
- tell them what you liked! ("great job! i enjoyed a, b, and c")
- give them constructive criticism ("x, y, and z could use some work)
- if you can, tell them HOW to improve ("i could teach you how to shade this or how to use MCedit")
- what you would like to see more of ("you seem to be doing this well, try to incorporate it into other stuff")
- tell them when you sub, diamond or fav, and tell them why ("this deserves a diamond because it's...")
when others comment:
- ALWAYS RESPOND (even high-levels find time to tell others they appreciate feedback)
- say thank you
- if they dislike something, ask how you can do better
- ask for help! (don't be too proud)
- return the favor (check out their stuff and comment on it)
