The Simplistic Manifesto
Why to use a Photo Realistic resource pack? Is it looking like real life? My question is: is Minecraft real life?
In 1929 Rene Magritte, a very famous French surrealistic artist, painted his most important artwork which showed a single dark and brown pipe in light beige background and was named as Ceci n’est pas un pipe (“This is not a pipe”). Although it doesn’t seems like, Magritte have always been right, it’s not a real pipe, it’s a representation of it. Magritte was trying to suggest all artists should stop trying to reach the reality or the “perfection” and start developing a new reality (a very common theme on Surrealist and Abstract art), because the more realistic the painted scene was, it would never be real.
This can be applied in contemporary Minecraft: the quantity of details on a resource pack doesn’t really matter, because that’s Minecraft and not real life. Why not to create appropriate textures for Minecraft’s world instead of copping real life (just like Photo Realism)? Don’t we all play this game just to take some fell breaks from our overwhelming reality? So why do we keep trying to make those so different universes become equal one’s? And how’s Minecraft’s universe like? Simplistic…
I’d like to say that a simplistic pack is not the same as a low resolutioned or pixy pack, there lots of Simplistic HD packs (just like Postercraft HD, Bev NES 256X256, Thomtheblob’s Simplex and many other) or even a lot of cool Realistic 16X16 packs (just like Morey Swift, Iron Horse, Whatcom Pack and many others), so it’s not related to resolution, it’s related to its concept.
I think that’s it for today guys. Please leave me some feedback on what I said, the more discussion the better! Hate to Photo Realism! Simplistic Texture Pack Maker of all the world, unite!!!

I totally agree. Although I don't make texture packs, I do appreciate the simplistic ones more than the HD ones.
Although I can't say there's anything WRONG with the realistic ones. It's only a different style of art! I just wish they wouldn't act like they're better than other art. Don't pick on Van Gogh because he doesn't paint like Michelangelo.
