Greetings everyone, this is DiabolusNeil speaking, and welcome to another blog. Today, I will be talking about so-called "uninspired Minecraft mods". I want to first point out that what I'm going to be talking about can be attributed to any sort of content creation, be it videos, software, etc. I am going to attributing this to Minecraft modding, more specifically, the creation of Minecraft mods, because I know a lot about what goes on in the modding community. Second, I am not going to use any existing mods to examplify my main point because of PMC rules. Let's get started, shall we?

First off, what is an uninspired mod? I like to define it as a mod that doesn't have a lot of effort put into it. That effort goes for the coding, creativity, and the amount of content within the mod itself. Of course, if you're just the normal Minecraft player that's not involved in the modding community, you're not going to know if a mod deserves to be praised or not. If it has cool models, particle effects, and sounds, the normal player goes nuts over it. An experienced modder, however, will look at other variables, such as the amount of content the mod provides, if the mod is stable (doesn't crash when playing normally), and if it has enough polish to it that it contains good spelling and grammar.

There's two types of modders out there. One type makes mods just because they want their audience to have a fun and satisfying experience. They don't care about fame or money, but about their target audience, and their valuable feedback. Then we get to the other type of modder. Their motivation for creating mods is that they'll hopefully be featured by popular YouTubers that that their mods will get tons of downloads, while the mod itself doesn't have a lot of effort put into it. These type of modders usually create only one release for each mod they make, and go straight to making the next one after they post the other mod. You might know these as the "Mo' Tools", "Mo' Foods", and "EPIC SWORDS" mods (there's lots of these mods out there, I'm not trying to discriminate just one). Obviously unoriginal, very simple, and a good modder can recreate them with programs like MCreator (more on than later). These modders are the bane of my existance, and need to be recognized by normal people.

Now, how exactly can someone measure a mod author's effort put into a mod? There's several different ways to tell if the modder cares about their mod, and their target audience. First, the main image and/or video. If the main image is just something taken from Google Images, then that's a sign of low effort. Second, the description. If it's just "tis is mai first mod. pls dimond and sub! wordlimitwordlimitwordlimitwordlimitwordlimit", then it's a prime example of low effort. Third, if the comments are disabled, then it's an example that the author either A). Stole the mod and doesn't want the idiots to know, or B). Knows their mod is bad, but doesn't want to hear about it. Fourth, the mod itself. If you get bored within 5 minutes of downloading it, then bravo mod author, job well failed.

Another prime example of the mod author being uninspired and not caring is using a mod-creating program, with the main canidates being MCreator and Linkseyi's Mod Creator. How can you tell if the mods were made by a program? Unarchive (Windows: WinRAR, Mac: Zipeg), the mod, and look at the mod classes. If all of the class names look like this: "mcreator_specialApple.class" (prefixed with "mcreator_"), or the mcmod.info file says "Made with MCreator", then the mod is made with MCreator. If you see a folder in the mod file called "linkseyi", then the mod was created with Linksey's Mod Creator. Pylos, the author of MCreator, wanted to make a program so people without modding experience can make simple little mods for themselves and their friends, not to publicly post online. People who make these mods are not "modders", they're a stain on the modding community.

My main point is, if you don't care about your work, why should anyone else? Thanks for reading, and I hope you have enjoyed. Goodbye.
