Hi! My name is Outflow and today I am here to talk to you about some of the hidden things in the upcoming Minecraft: Update Aquatic. If you're using the pre-release versions and have done some extensive exploration of the new blocks/builds, you're probably going to know some of these so don't get mad.

1. You can now swim in a straight line

By pressing the "CTRL" button, you can swim in a straight line. Great for 1x1 tubes.

2. If you're submerged in water and you drop something, it floats up.

From the title, you already know what this is but in the previous versions of Minecraft, if you dropped something it would fall down. Apparently (which they were right), the developers thought it would be best to flip that around to make it more realistic.

3. There is now an extra-creepy airborne mob ready to eat your face off in one bite

Okay.. maybe I over-exaggerated in the title but there is literally a flying mob that only appears in survival when you haven't slept for 3 in-game days. They call it [drumroll please].. the Phantom!!! But quite literally, you can not escape this thing unless you sleep. It flies over you in PACKS.. yeah, that's right.. PACKS.. and swoops down to eat you. But fun fact, it can only eat you if you are above sea level and you are not standing under a block that blocks light. If you feel chills down your spine already, build yourself an underwater house and you'll be safe from this thing!

4. The Trident

The Update Aquatic brought a lot of new mobs and items to the game, but nothing's more awesome than the trident! Paired with some of your creativity, this literally could make the best adventure map ever! Since it's so awesome that I couldn't explain it's abilities on my own, I brought in this quote from Tom Stone (https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Trident).

If you don't want to throw it away permanently, then you should invest in Loyalty. This common enchantment makes your trident come back to you. Riptide, which makes you lunge with your trident when you throw it (as long as you're in water, or it's raining) is also well worth seeking out!

5. No more gamemode changing shortcuts.

Have you ever used the /gamemode command? Well if so, this applies to you. In order to make the command bar easier to use and understand for newer players, the shortcuts for this command and most likely others were removed. For example, if I were in a survival game and I wanted to quickly switch to creative because the phantoms were eating me, I could easily do so by typing in /gamemode c. You cannot do so anymore. The full command must be typed (/gamemode creative) or you'll get an error message.

6. DOLPHINS... AND FISH!!!

Now you probably know already, but Minecraft added dolphins and fish to the game. So now when you're fishing, you're not just throwing a fishing rod into a pond with nothing in it. When kelp at the sea floor is destroyed, little pieces that look like green dye float up to the surface and the dolphins chase it and eat it. It's actually pretty cute. But if you're building a sea palace, the fish can get annoying. They're some pretty curious creatures so they may follow you around and get stuck in one of your blocks which of course, means you brutally murdered a school of fish in a video game so just be careful.

7. Brand new command bar!

As I said in #5, there's a new command bar. Well, not necessarily a new command bar. When you type in a command, the different components in said command are highlighted in different colors so you know which one is which. For example. if I were to say "/kill @a" the @a part would be highlighted in a different color from the rest. And using the "TAB" key to quickly throw together commands is easier than ever before. When you press tab, it displays all of the possible uses for that argument. For example, if I were to say "/spawn" and then I clicked tab, it would show all the entities I could spawn. Then after selecting an entity, if I pressed tab again, it would add my coordinates.

Alright, that's all I have in store for today. After reading, if you have any additions, feel free to throw me a PM or make a comment below! Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,
Outflow
