Recently there has been several attacks on photo manipulation programs. Other users stating that by using photoshop or other programs you are ruining the entire community and destroying the world. Thus giving an illness to all other users who see it and they will eventually go blind from all the effects used.

People have said that over editing images gains views and that is bad. Well clearly, if you have an image that stands out it will attract attention and have more chance of gaining more views. The fact that people would argue this and say it's un-fair is stupid. That is how advertising works, not always with over-done effects, but enough to grab attention, be colourful and such.

People also say that the bad submissions get views because of this leaving good ones with no edited thumbnails with little views. That is a shame. Although I refuse to take the blame of someone going unnoticed because they didn't use an image that was very eye catching. If making such a thumbnail is so easy, why doesn't everyone do it?

Because not everybody wants to, nor does everyone understand or know how to do such things in said programs.
Anyone can edit an image, not everyone can do it well.
