Here is a couple of skinners words when i asked them this:
What is the point for skinning to you and what is skinning to you?

- MrBanana_5 : For me, the point for skinning is to have fun doing what you like (making skins) and to express yourself in communities like PMC, you can make many new friends...

- -Matt- : Im just doing my hobby, when im bored im makin it and i enjoy it, atm i dont have any skin ideas so i dont make skin for 1 week :D , and i make skins for all my subscriber and to who enjoy my skins.....

- the_soup : It's just a way to express myself artistically, that I feel confident with (because I think I'm good at it).

- Aximili : The point of skinning is to release my urge to show that I like something, but sometimes it is because other people might like it. Another point is if I happen to get requests from people who aint complete noobs, having a reason to want a skin. Skinning is nothing more than a hobby to me.

- peytonisgreat : Well, skinning is a really fun hobby, and a great way to create some art in Minecraft.

- Speedycube : Huh, good question. Actually, I am a bit of a show-off, I like people to see my work. Not to the point where I'm trying to be better than them or anything. But I really enjoy art, all sorts of it. Pixel Art is somewhat easier to do, and it is one of them that I am better at, (also, Minecraft is my current favorite game and is made out of pixels.) It's seriously gotten to the point where whenever I take a look around the the world, I always notice the contrast, lighting, hue, and saturation that you would see in any of my pixel art/skins.


To answer your question, I skin because it is something I like to do and it is a way of sharing my abilities with the world.

What is skinning to me?To me, it's like art. You have a small canvas where you can create anything you want, from people to animals to things of your imagination with a limited amount of pixels. If you take the time to make it look appealing and upload it, others can look at it and say "Wow! This is really good!" or "This really looks like *insert what you made here*!". That makes the time you took to make it all the more worthwhile.

What is the point for skinning to me?Like the other question, it's like art. But at the same time, to me, it's something you should enjoy doing. To be honest, I got a little bored with skinning recently. But when I pushed myself and made a skin, I really enjoyed it after it was completed.

- Kefka : Skinning is a form of art that allows me to express my creativity for others to enjoy.

- lantosyt : For me the point of skinning is just having fun making skins.It's one of forms of pixelart , I make them because they allow me to be creative . I am a creativity adicct.

- DragonsDungeon : Well the point of skinning is to have fun and make people happy by leaving them some work they may like :D and if you can get yourself satisfied and happy with it, its even better. if you can see the creativity of your skin you will always see the point of why you made the skin. So if you like what you created you will always see the point of skinning. now skinning to me is something different. skinning to me is creativity, fun and detail. Its hard to put much detail into a tiny figure. skinning is a challenge and a way to create your own art.
