For superflat building, https://www.planetminecraft.com/data-pack/mienecraft-1-17-buildhight-changer-void-world-4064-blocks/ is not necessarily the answer. I decided to patch it and make it generate one layer of bedrock, leaving 4063 blocks worth of room above.

And chance getting this to work with 1.18.2?
Found the other version, but that one it not working for me either... I'm new to datapacks, ideas of what i'm doing wrong? It does not show up as available in minecraft, but it copy's itself to the datapacks folder when I drag and drop it into minecraft when creating a new world...

I think the issue is that you need to extract it. Zips can be finicky. Ideally you want the result to be a folder in the datapacks folder, and that folder needs to contain the pack.mcmeta and its companion.

secondly, I had tried to make it more usable by making the zip be a root directory so you could drag, but evidently you still need to extract it anyways. Remember that I had to port the relevant changes to 1.18 via patching WorldPainter's and creating files for the Nether, End, and Overworld Caves (apparently there's a file for that). Luckily for you I saved the older versions if you want to try those, and they are available on my github.

My machine has 32GiB of RAM. I suspect that it's because the thing I imported is 906x2048x906 blocks. However, I managed to use a program to convert a 3768x3932 2D artwork I did into a schematic at that size. It worked. The issue you run into is a possible need to use maximum render distance to see anything, which even my RTX3070 with i7 9th gen struggles on. Also amulet is slow on large schematics. But if you just want to go a little higher than MC typically does, or want freedom to expand your builds and designs, 4064 is handy
