What does Advanced Smithing do?
The Smithing Table is a block added in Minecraft version 1.14, but it only received real use with 1.16. This block allows the player to do only one thing: transform objects (weapons, tools, armor) from diamond to netherite while retaining their NTBs and enchantments.
Little stuff ... too little! Don't you think? What if this block has multiple recipes? What if these recipes were balanced and useful for the player's survival experience? What if there is a datapack that does this? You have just found it! Introducing Advanced Smithing!
This Datapack adds several new recipes designed to improve the player's survival without benefiting too much... it also plugs the hole that Mojang ignored: the Netherite Horse Armor! Exactly! You got it right: Advanced Smithing also adds Netherite Horse Armor without the use of a texture pack.

Conversing with you prompted me to find a brilliant and balanced way to transform items from gold to diamond.
This Datapack really needed a recipe to get to diamond items!

Advanced Smithing is back! After months of inactivity for summer holidays, here is version 7.0.
The recipe book has not been updated yet. Version 7.1 is coming soon which will keep him up to date with the 10 new recipes added.

Edit:
Here is version 7.1 which, as promised, has updated the recipe book ... But that's not all!

Hello! I have a wonderful idea! Maybe you want upgrade your iron things(armor, tools, weapon) to diamond things. It will be too easy to use one diamond for this. It will be too hard to use one diamond BLOCK for this. How about using diamond ORE for this task? (Since if your pickaxe does not have "Silk Touch", then you will not get this block)

For example: Iron Chestplate + Diamond Ore = Diamond Chestplate

P. S. Sorry for my bad English:(

Hello there. How is one Diamond BLOCK too hard? I mean it's far easier to get the block by combining 9 Diamonds in a Crafting table, than getting the Enchanting table and depending on luck to get the Silk Touch enchantment.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your idea for this datapack, but, unfortunately, I don't think I will add this feature because if you look at the recipes present you notice that there is no trace of raw minerals, therefore the addition of one, rather 9 recipes it is not very consistent with the rest of the datapack. You've probably read my conversation with the other user where we talked about the possibility of adding the iron to diamond transformation with the single diamond for tools and block for armor. Well, I let you know that I am very undecided about adding recipes that transform iron items into diamonds because I have read the Wiki and that type of transformation proves inconvenient in every sense for armor as far as spells are concerned. As you probably read from the description, I am currently on vacation without my PC workstation and, therefore, development of this datapack and also of my other datapack are temporarily suspended until the beginning of September. When I return from vacation I will immediately get to work to add new interesting features, probably not the iron to diamond recipes, but I will be able to satisfy you with other features.

I realy liked your data pack, but it would be cool if I could upgrade my iron armor to diamond keeping the enchantments from the previous armor. Maybe it requires the respective diamond piece to upgrade:

Example: Enchanted iron sword + Normal diamond sword = Enchanted diamond sword

Sorry if my english was bad and sorry if this was complicated

First of all, thank you for writing your comment and exposing your idea and I'm glad you like my datapack! : D
Your idea is quite interesting and I think that I will take inspiration from your advice to make it possible to upgrade from iron to diamond. Using a single diamond for all upgrades would be crazy (it will be too op for players).
The possibility to use diamond gear for the upgrade is interesting but not very consonant with the rest of the datapack (as you can see from the other recipes, in the second slot there are no tools/armor , but only minerals or stone).
Your advice inspired me to switch from an iron tool to a diamond tool using a diamond, while for the armor it is necessary to use the diamond block. What do you think about it? Would you like to see this feature in the datapack?

This sounds really cool! I have a question tho:
This is gonna sound complicated but

so you can upgrade armour and tools e.g gold to iron
what if you have idk, a stone pickaxe and you find a few diamonds (let's say from a blacksmith), could you turn the stone pickaxe straight away into a diamond pickaxe? or would you have to get iron first, then diamonds?

sorry for my bad explanation

Hi! First of all, thank you for your positive comment and above all for your advice.
From what I understand you have described to me a progression of the items in the smithing table from wood to diamond (and netherite which is already present).
I appreciate that you offered to give me this advice but I don't think it will materialize in this datapack for two reasons:
1. There is already a progression datapack of the items of the smithing table and I do not think it would be correct for the colleague datapacker to replicate what is present in his work.
2. This type of progression described may render some recipes of the crafting table useless. What do I mean? Well, let's consider an iron chestplate (the most expensive item of the kit): if this datapack added the possibility of transforming it into a diamond chestplate using a single diamond it would make the classic crafting that requires 8 useless, therefore the datapack would add one thing, yes, but would delete one. The goal of my datapack is to improve the survival experience without distorting the pure game itself, but also to add news that can transform unnecessary items into useful items (as in the case of enchanted gold items that are not useful for their fragility but this datapack gives the possibility to make them iron keeping the enchantments and without benefiting the player too much)

If you have other ideas that meet the goal and keep the purity of the game I would be happy to hear and talk about it together! :D
