I was recently making a datapack and ran into an issue: GUI's are really hard to make and customize, so i thought to myself how do i make this easier
I now present the BUI (book user interface) much like a GUI it allows you to navigate through a bunch of stuff and execute commands based on what the user clicks on
overall its quite simple to custemize and utallize as it only uses books none of this chest minecart bullcrap
ive tried making the datapack easy to navigate for you guys to change things and use it yourself without any problems
if you want to give yourself one of the GUI's all you need to do is give yourself an item with a specified tag (default testgui1/testgui2/testgui3) "/give @s book{testgui1:1b}"

But isn't that just a book?
To me the purpose of actually using a GUI (which i don't rly like doing for multiple reasons) is to place items in it for crafting or something like that.
With a book the GUI is basically just like spitting it via tellraw, no?
If you want to create something like a "main menu" for selecting "skills" or something, this is great tho!
yes, for things like crafting its definitelly better to use custom recipies or smth like a dispenser
the book itself can work without using tellraw and instead just through different text effects such as strikethrough, bold, Italic, Underline or other things like that, with some simple commands you can even make text show when you hover over words
so yes, for a lot of things this wont work, but for simple uses such as a selection menu or any really any kind of menu that doesnt require items this works really well and its easy to make and understand, also with emojies finding their way into minecraft there is plenty of customization possibilities
