This datapack is the standalone version of a feature made for Minecarft, my survival rebalance. Check it out here!

Calibrated Compasses provides an in-game solution to both F3 and /locate by giving compasses, clocks, recovery compasses and lodestones additional functionality. As useful as the F3 menu can be, its a bit ugly, so I wanted to give a better, in-game alternative. Calibrated Compasses is multiplayer compatible.

Features:

Holding a compass now displays your coordinates and cardinal direction.
Holding a clock now displays your coordinates, cardinal direction and biome, hold shift to see current biome and amount of days.
Holding a recovery compass now displays coordinates, cardinal direction and biome, hold shift to see your spawnpoint coordinates, total deaths and current amount of days.

Clock crafting recipe changed, replacing redstone dust with a compass
Recovery compass crafting recipe changed, replacing compass with clock and uses only 4 echo shards instead of 8

Lodestone compasses now show you how far the closest version of certain types of structures are to your current location

How to use Lodestone Compasses
Place a lodestone inside one of any of the following structures: Desert Pyramids, End Cities, Nether Fortresses, Mesa Mineshafts, Ocean Monuments, Pillager Outposts, Swamp Huts

Right click the lodestone with a compass. That compass will now act as a /locate command for that structure type when held. It will update itself every 10 seconds and tell you how many blocks away the closest structure of that type is.

Each lodestone compass can only track one structure type, and the lodestone can be removed from the structure after making the lodestone compass.

The idea is you can streamline exploration a bit:

Say you want to find the closest ocean monument to your base so your can make a prismarine and xp farm, now you can. Say you want to find a nether fortress in a specific biome, you can use this to make that process less tedious.
Or, lets say you are exploring the end. In my opinion, a pretty boring and tedious task. Find more end cities faster.

this pack sets the reduced debug info screen to true which hides your F3 info so you have to command the gamerule decreased debuginfo to false to get it back.

cool idea! But you should check how the spawnpoint behaves in hardcore, since when i tried using that, i read that the spawnpoint is only updated, when the player dies. So it might just show the previous spawnpoint, and in hardcore only the worldspawn.
I would check it myself, but i cant get to my pc rn ^^

Thats a great point! I looked into it and realized I actually deleted a file that was supposed to regularly check for the players spawnpoint, but your comment gave me a better idea :)

Thanks!
