This datapack removes the "repair_item" recipe, making it impossible to repair tools using a crafting grid. Tools can still be repaired using anvils, grindstones, and mending.

I expect this to work in every version, but only tested it in 1.16.2

The first version caused an error in the game output. It still worked, so updating isn't strictly necessary, but the updated version fixes the error.

I'm using 1.16.5 and various 1.17 snapshots, and this doesn't seem to be working anymore! I checked the JAR files and the "repair_item.json" doesn't seem to have moved or been renamed. I'm not sure what's wrong!

There's an error in the console when using this datapack. You've got the type of the recipe set to minecraft:shapeless but it should be minecraft:crafting_shapeless.

I like making survival more challenging in these little ways so I'll be using this in my worlds, thank you.

Apparently causing an error is also a way to disable a vanilla recipe, haha

i believe this was supposed to be removed in 1.14 for the grindstone change, but it hasn't been changed. Cool!
