About

The Cursed Woods is a passion project made by me adding a whole new dimension with unique biomes, structures, mobs, items, bosses and everything else that big mods usually adds. Only this isn't a mod, its a completely vanilla datapack! It currently features 6 new biomes, 2 new bosses, 5 new mobs (excluding bosses) 2 new ores and a whole lot of unique new items, all to spice up your vanilla gameplay experience! I am very open to suggestions, so if you were to come up with a super awesome idea, leave it in the comments! I'll review it and see if it is something I think fits in the project. Please note that this project is still a WORK IN PROGRESS and will contain unfinished features, performance issues and a bunch of bugs. If you do happen to come across bugs please don't hesitate to leave a comment about it, I appreciate any and all bug reports and will do my absolute best at fixing them.

I have a discord server for the project where I share sneak peeks, progress notes and general stuff about the datapack. Consider joining :)

How To Access

The Cursed Woods (WIP) Minecraft Data Pack
To access this dimension you just need to throw a diamond into a 2x2x1 water pool surrounded by grass. There also needs to be grass or dirt in the bottom of the pool. This portal will take you directly to the dimension.

Mobs

The Cursed Woods (WIP) Minecraft Data Pack

The Decrepit Hunter

This is a passive mob inhibiting the dimension, currently only spawning in naturally generating structures. They're not particularly difficult or strong on their own, but they usually come in groups. They can either wield a knife or crossbow. Upon death they will drop arrows, meat, their hoods or even their special weapons, the Hunters knife or Hunters crossbow. These two weapons deal additional damage to animal mobs. These guys are a closed faction and will definitely not take kindly to an outsider coming to pillage them. If you bother them too much they will send out raid parties to take revenge on you.

The Cursed Woods (WIP) Minecraft Data Pack

The Decrepit Stalker

These guys are the bigger brothers of the Decrepit Hunters. They will be the ones hunting you if you bother them too much. They are stronger, faster and tougher than their little brothers. So unless you want to have these guys on your tail you better leave the Hunters alone. However if you think you're geared up enough to take these guys on they usually keep some valuables on them. So taking them down will definitely not leave you empty handed. They also spawn in the naturally generating structure "The Stalker Outpost". Here they roam around and go about their business, unless you've angered them recently they will be passive towards you.

The Frog

The frog is currently the only neutral mob that is added into this datapack. This mob roams the Marshlands and usually spawns in packs of 1 - 4. It loves carrots, potatoes and beetroots and feeding it either one of these items will make it happy, making it drop a swamp related item for you. This can be some sugar cane, lily pads, seagrass or even nautilus shells. It has a 1 minute cooldown on this. Hitting it will make it upset and reset the cooldown so you have to wait another minute.

The Sunken One

A water dwelling creature that will happily drag any unsuspecting adventurers down into water. This mob thrives in his natural habitat, that being the waters of the Marshlands, and will become completely invulnerable while in it. However it will be slow and weak in any water that isnt the Marshlands or on land. He will drag anyone in the water closer to him if you're in range, about 4 blocks. Standing on lily pads wont save you either, it will break those and drag you into the water.

Frozen Zombie
The Frozen Zombie is slower than your average zombie but will inflict that slowness upon you, should you get hit by it. It spawns exclusively in the Frozen Woods on both the surface and in caves below the ground. It has a chance to spawn with an "Icicle Shank" in its hand, which is a melee weapon has a fast attack speed but a low attack damage. If it is holding this weapon and you kill it, it has a chance to drop it. Additionally it drops Frozen Flesh.

Frosted Creeper
This creeper is a bit of a menacing one. If it wasnt enough that when he blows up, he destroys your beautiful creations, this guy also gives you wither and slowness if he hits you with his explosion. He even leaves a cloud of slowness when he detonates. This mob only spawns in the Frozen Woods both under and above the surface. Currently he doesnt drop anything special, only gunpowder.

The Bosses

The Blight

This guy is one of the most formidable enemies you will face in this dimension. Spawning in big frozen underground rooms in the Frozen Woods biome. If you consider yourself powerful enough to face him you just have to break him out of the ice he spawns encapsulated in. He is blind so he has to rely on his two eyes that float around the room to be powerful. Hitting the eyes will temporarily disable them, you need both eyes disabled to make him weak. He will deal less damage when weak and wont be able to spot you from as far away either. However being weak also gives him a speed boost so if he does spot you you'll have to watch out.

The Decrepit Marauder

This guy is the boss spawning on the Charred Mountaintops in small little blackstone arenas. He is a very fast paced boss and he will be quite hard if you don't know what you're doing, with that being said though if you do know what you're doing he could be a total pushover, as it should be.

If you find this guy he'll just be standing still in the middle of his arena not really doing anything. Attack him to start the fight.
He will start out with his shield up. He is completely invulnerable while his shield is up and attacking him is useless. In this state he will lob slow traveling and slow turning hoaming projectiles at you. These can be dodged and if they run into a wall they will disappear. It is when he lowers his shield when he becomes vulnerable. He will now charge towards you and once he reaches you he will freeze and stand completely still. Do not hit him just yet, when you see a flash and hear a sound you can attack him. You have to be quick about it however because when he flashes he will switch back to his shield quite fast. If you hit him before he flashes he wont take any damage and will heal himself instead, then pull up his shield and start lobbing projectiles at you again. This will also happen if he manages to hit you after flashing. However, if you manage to hit him after he flashes he will take damage and become stunned for a few seconds. This is the moment to strike. After his stun wears off he will pull up his shield again.

So in short, wait for him to put his shield down and charge towards you. Then only after he flashes hit him and then just go berserk on him and deal as much damage as you can, smite swords are great at dealing loads of damage to him.

There is even some special music playing while you're fighting this guy, so try turning it on :)
The track is about 11 min long which explains why the resource pack is over 40,000 mb

Biomes

The Treetop Hills

This is the safe kind of biome such as the plains biome in the overworld or the warped forest biome in the nether. A place where very little hostile mobs spawn and lots of friendly mobs and animals spawn. A lot of resources spawn here too, all the basic materials and ores you'll ever need will be found here! It also features abandoned villages, mineshafts, campsites for Decrepit Hunters and also Treehouse villages for the Decrepit Hunters. The Trees are huge and some even have shroomlight on them to light up the biome. A special apple can drop from these leaves, the Glistering Apple. It gives you regeneration 2 for 5 seconds when consumed.

The Frozen Woods

A snowy and more dangerous biome. Like the Treetop Hills, this biome also features big trees, but also more normal sized ones. Some trees can even contain apple deposits that can, if broken with any hoe, drop glistering apples. This biome is the home to a lot of dangerous mobs such as Strays, Endermen and Decrepit Hunters. But also more friendly ones such as sheep, cows and snowy foxes. In this biome you can even find the home of the the Decrepit Stalkers. It is a big outpost built out of spruce wood. Dont worry about these Stalkers though since they're not naturally hostile towards you, only if you hit them or steal from the outpost, then they will all start chasing you. In this place you will be able to clear your bounty and make stalkers not chase you if you've bothered the hunters too much, but it will definitely come at a price. Neither the stalkers or hunters are exactly friendly towards outsiders. This biome is also the home to a monster called The Blight, and the Decrepit Hunters are terrified of it. Should you come across this monster incased in ice in the depths of this biome you will definitely have to come prepared, if the stalkers can't handle this beast there aren't many who can. However, the stalkers would definitely be more than happy to reward anyone brave (or crazy) enough to challenge and manage to take this hulking mass down.

The Charred Forest / Mountaintops

This is perhaps one of the most dangerous places in the entire dimension. This is a former Treetop Hills biome that has burned down, leaving only the husks of trees, charred ground and ash flying in the wind. The air here is toxic so bringing protection is recommended, unless you want to suffer negative effects. A Hunters Hood will give a bit of protection towards this toxic air, while a gas mask, sold at the Stalkers Outpost, will protect fully against it. But you better watch out going below Y = 20 or above Y = 128, for the air here is even more toxic than the one on the surface. Not even a gas mask will protect fully from this air. But there are definitely riches waiting for the people crazy enough to venture this deep or this high. For this biome is the only one that contains naturally generating Magma Ore. This stuff is used to make magma tools and armor, blazing hot tools that will instantly melt blocks they break, such as turning iron and gold into ingots, turning sand into glass or turning wood into charcoal. This is the Decrepit Hunters favored hunting grounds where they will mercilessly hunt down the hoglins inhabiting this biome. They have campsites set up all over this biome where they have tall watchtowers and tents to store their meat and valuables.

The Marshlands

The Marshlands is a swampy and soggy biome with trees resembling mangrove trees. The water here is acid and will kill you very quickly if you swim in it for too long. Plain old leather armor will protect against this though, so be sure to bring a set if you're planning on traversing this biome. Chickens, Cows, Squids and even fish spawn here, but also my two new mobs added specifically for this biome! The Frog is a friendly mob just like a cow or a chicken that roams around this biome, you'll find them spawning in groups of 1 - 4. Frogs love carrots, potatoes and beetroots and will happily give you something in return for those items. Feeding a frog one of these items will make him drop a swamp/water related item such as sugar cane, lily pads, sea grass or even nautilus shells. It has a 1 minute cooldown on this and punching him will make him upset and reset the cooldown to 1 minute. The Sunken One is the other mob that spawns in this biome. You will most commonly find them spawning alone in the water. These guys will happily drag you down into the acid water, even when standing on lily pads. What makes them even worse is that they are completely invulnerable while in water too! So definitely watch out for these guys.

The Pine Forest

This biome is very much a work in progress and doesn't have much going for it just yet. I plan to add unique mobs and structures at the moment, and maybe a boss. Right now there are no hostile mobs that spawn in this biome, only animals that you'd see in a normal spruce forest. The biome is made up of thick spruce trees and loads off vegetation such as tall grass, mushrooms and a variety of flowers. There are also random logs just lying on the ground just about everywhere in the biome.

Blocks

Aetherium

This is one of 2 unique ores in this dimension. It generates in the Treetop Hills and the Marshlands n groups of 1 - 5 ore blocks. You can use both silk touch and fortune on this ore. Its use is supercharging your diamond tools and armor to make them stronger. However to do this you will need an Aetherium Conductor, and to get this you need an Arcane Crafter.

Magma Ore

This is the second and last unique ore in this dimension. It generates in the depths of the Charred Forest attached to magma blocks from y = 20 and down. It can only be mined with a netherite pickaxe or else it wont drop anything. This ore exists to upgrade your netherite tools and armor using a Creation Station.

Arcane Crafter

This is the custom crafting table that you'll need in this datapack. It crafts (mostly) all the new blocks and items from this datapack. Put your ingredients into the table and step back for a second and the item will be created right on top of the table. To craft it you'll need 5x Diamonds, 1x Smithing Table and Either 3x Magma Shards or 3x Aetherium Crystals.
Crafted in a normal crafting table like this

Aetherium Conductor

This machine is used to infuse your diamond tools and armor. Putting aetherium in the top compartment will charge it. 1 Aetherium Crystal will give it a charge of 100. After that you'll just need to connect some copper blocks or cut copper to the conductor to form a wire. And lastly power the conductor to make aetherium flow through the copper blocks, and any player standing next to one of these copper blocks connected to the wire will become infused. Each player can have a maximum charge of 2000. It is crafted in the Arcane Crafter with 4x Obsidian in all 4 corners, 1x Aetherium Block in the middle and then 4x Aetherium crystals in the last 4 slots.
Just like this

Cooking Station

This block is used to cook powerful meals to help you on your journey. The food can range from giving really good status effects to giving temporary perks to counter certain aspects of certain biomes. Just put the ingredients inside of this thing and it will start cooking. The normal time it would take to cook something is 50 seconds, however that can be sped up using coal or magma shards. One piece of coal shaves 5 seconds of the timer and a magma shard just finishes it instantly. The Cursed Woods datapack contains 11 new fully functional and unique food items, 6 of which are made using the Cooking Station.

Absolutely insane datapack!

Just one question, since you have marked this as a datapack compatible with 1.19 can the default minecraft frogs spawn in the dimension?

if you're thinking about me integrating them into the overworld then the answer is no, mojang have made it a real headache to add new biomes to the overworld specifically due to the noise settings and generation etc.
You're free to just copy the code however if you want to, if you wanna give it a try yourself
