Detective Henry Morse was born in a crime riddled city somewhere mid-west US. Growing up, he was always alert of the gangs and criminals lurking the streets daily. He was always disgusted when the police arrived too late to the scene of the crime. Since he was a child, he dedicated himself to the pursuit of justice. When he graduated from college, he joined the police force. When he joined the force, he soon realized that the police themselves were corrupt. Being the rookie at the time, he didn’t do anything about it fearing that he may lose his job. After three years he left the police force, disgusted with his years of covering up for criminals, disposing of evidence, and arresting innocents. He reported it to the FBI but they dismissed it as a joke. Just when he was about to give up, he bumped into a Detective from Interpol. Henry immediately told him about the corruption in his city’s police and soon found out that the police was involved with an international crime organization that was based in his home city. Using Henry’s testimony as evidence, the detective soon was given a search warrant and found out that the Chief of Police was actually the leader of the organization and the police station was their headquarters. Interpol soon arrested them and Henry was given a job with Interpol. A few years later, Henry is investigating a series of child disappearances. He drives his car to a forest where the children were before they vanished.

Mai wasnt very shy as a child. She'd always go outside and play with her younger sister. They'd have so much fun. As they got older, they still played together. They werent just sisters, they were best friends. Then, as they got older, they started playing less and less, her sister was always inside resting. At first, Mai was in denial, and just thought that her sister was tired, so she went inside and played with her. She found out that her sister had cancer, but she didnt listen to them. She kept her sister happy, and it treated her like she wasnt even sick, because she didnt believe she was. But one day, she had to go to hospital, and this is when it her Mai that her sister was actually sick. She didnt break down or anything like the sort, she just accepted her sisters fate and went on living normally. She'd visit her in the hospital everyday with sunflowers, they were her sisters favourite. Mai took it apon herself to care for her sister and protect her. One day, when she went to visit, she wasnt there. The doctors said that she was going into surgery, so she just sat in waiting room and, well, waited. While her family was atg home sleeping, she refused to leave. So she sat at the hospital over night and waited. In the morning, a doctor woke her up as she had fallen asleep on the chair. He said that she could visit her sister. Mai sat with her sister, who was attached to all sorts of hospital equiptment. She cried for her sister, she wished that she could be the one with cancer and not her. Suddenly, it was like the positions were reversed, and her sister was comforting and protecting Mai. She told her that everything would be alright, and that theyd play again some day. The machines started beeping and going off, and her sister smiled at her one last time, then her eyes shut. Doctors rushed in and Mai was sent out of the room, a look of horror on her face.
At the funeral, all dressed in black except for her velvet red hair, she cried her eyes out. Since that day, Mai closed up. She hardly talked. Hardly socialised. Most of her days were spent at school in the back of the class, and out the front yard, sitting on the tire swing her and her sister had made, just staring into space. Her parents worried about her, but she said that she didnt want to talk about it. So, Mai has been mute ever since, but sometimes she still finds herself being nice and helping people. She still sees a child and wants to protect them, becuase she couldnt protect her sister. She still finds herself thinking of her and smiling.
